Vail
ajestic mountains surround the quaint town
of Vail. Towering pines and quaking
aspens abound. Babbling Gore Creek
soothes the senses. Fresh air and starry nights feed
the soul.
Vail was incorporated in 1966, and is named
after Charles Vail, the highway engineer who routed
U.S. Highway 6 through the Eagle Valley in 1940,
which eventually became Interstate 70. Pete Seibert
and Earl Eaton were the masterminds behind the ski

celebrity sightings.

Keynote Presenter Perspectives on the Economy and Banking
About the Presenter: Esther George Esther George is president and CEO of the
Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City. As
president of the Kansas City Fed, she
leads a workforce of close to 2,000
employees at offices in Kansas City,
Omaha, Denver and Oklahoma City. The
Kansas City Fed is responsible for
conducting monetary policy, providing
financial services to depository institutions, and supervising nearly 1,000 banking
organizations within a seven-state region that includes western Missouri, Kansas,
Nebraska, Oklahoma, Colorado, Wyoming and northern New Mexico.
In 2019, President George serves as a voting member on the Federal Reserve’s
policymaking body, the Federal Open Market Committee. In this role, she
represents the Tenth Federal Reserve District in policy deliberations and
provides a perspective based on three decades of experience as a banking
supervisor. In addition, her views are informed by regular contacts with the
region’s businesses, workers, financial institutions and community organizations.
The Tenth Federal Reserve District has a diverse economic profile that includes
a mix of agriculture, energy, manufacturing, tourism, real estate and small
business.

Creating and Promoting an Environment where Community Banks Flourish
About the Presenter: Rebeca Romero Rainey Rebeca Romero Rainey is president and CEO of the
Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA),
the leading advocacy organization exclusively
representing community banks. She is one of the
nation’s foremost advocates of the community banking
industry, with a focus on regulatory reform for our
country’s nearly 5,700 community banks. She has met
with President Obama and President Trump to discuss
issues that are top of mind for community banks.
A third-generation community banker born and raised in Taos, N.M., Romero
Rainey is the former Chairman and CEO of Centinel Bank of Taos. Upon
graduating from Wellesley College, she returned home to Taos with the dream
of continuing her family’s business of running the town’s only local community
bank.
Her broader service to the community banking industry began when she joined
the board of the Independent Community Bankers of New Mexico, where she
served as president in 2007-08. She entered the national stage by becoming
active within ICBA and serving on several committees. Romero Rainey also
played a key role in the formation of ICBA’s Minority Bank Council and served
as its first chairman. Later she was nominated to become a member of ICBA’s
Executive Committee, and in 2016, became ICBA chairman.
