HOW TO APPLY PAGE 13
How do I pay for my accommodation? On accepting an offer of accommodation, students pay a one-off prepayment of £600 by credit or debit card. This is not a deposit and will be deducted as an advance rent payment. The remaining balance must be paid through your MyCampus account. You may pay in instalments via a UK bank account (Direct Debit) or by credit card (manual payment plan). You can find out more information at glasgow.ac.uk/students/money/paymentmethods For enquiries regarding your fees contact [email protected] or Student Services on 0141 330 7000 who will be happy to help you. Will I get my preferred accommodation? The Allocations team will do their best to offer you one of your preferences. We would also encourage you to let us know of any special requests in the additional information section of your application and we will take these into account as best we can. For example, you may want to live with other vegetarians, with students doing the same course, in a quiet area or with people who have the same interests – give us as much information as possible and we will see what we can do! Bear in mind that if you meet new friends living at another residence after you have moved in, you can apply for a room transfer free of charge. All transfers are subject to availability. When will I get the result of my application? We start allocating rooms and sending offers as soon as we receive applications. We offer our accommodation to those applicants who have accepted an Unconditional Firm offer of study as priority. For students with conditional offers that successfully become unconditional offers, the Allocations Team will send offers shortly after Higher & A Level results are published. These are allocated in order of date received – we can’t emphasis enough to get your application in early as possible.
Can I bring my car? This really depends as some of our residences have car parks whilst others don’t. Once your place is confirmed, please give your residence a call to check and to find out the specific arrangements for parking. Refer to the residence profiles on pages 10-12 to find out which residences have on-site parking. Where can I do my laundry? All residences have washing and drying facilities open 24 hours a day, every day, making it easy for you to stay up-to-date on your laundry pile. We use a laundry system called Circuit Laundry across all of our residences, and you pay for each load with credit which you (or someone else) can top up online. Can I stay in accommodation in second and third year?We do expect to be able to offer accommodation to a number of returning students and therefore if you wish to be considered for a place in UofG accommodation after first year, please apply in the usual way. The number of places available for returners will depend on the numbers of first year students applying for a guaranteed place. Please contact the Accommodation Services team if you’d like to talk about this option in more detail. Can I extend my stay over the summer? We’d be more than happy to allow you to stay a while longer providing we have availability. You can speak to Accommodation Services directly or drop us an email and we will arrange this for you.
