THE BADGERLAND SUMMER TRIP: ST. LOUIS BOUND! • GRADES 4-12

It’s a summer tradition —the Badgerland Bus Trip. In 2018, we’re heading to St. Louis for two nights and three days. Of course, we’ll explore all the famous tourist destinations you’ve only seen in pictures, and together we’ll discover the hidden treasures in this gorgeous Missouri city. The first day we’ll visit a train station transformed into a bustling shopping and activity center. From there it’s on to the City Museum where we’ll sleep (ha!) and spend the night exploring the countless slides, tubes, tunnels and caves. Spend the next morning at the St. Louis Zoo and then on to the Science Center where we’ll sleep under the stars in the planetarium. The third day we venture to the top of the famous Arch then hop aboard a riverboat for a cruise down the Mississippi River. It’s the Girl Scout trip of the summer…don’t miss it!

G.I.R.L. 2017: ROAD TRIP TO NATIONAL CONVENTION!We’re chartering a bus for THE event of the year - the G.I.R.L. Convention in Columbus, Ohio!

For three days, girls will take over Ohio’s capital city and Badgerland will be part of the magic! More than 10,000 of the brightest, toughest and most capable girls and women in the world are expected at this special gathering that only comes once every three years.

Travel with other G.I.R.L.s, see and learn new things and pack your bags full of inspiring, life-changing experiences. What are you waiting for?!

At the event, girls will build friendships and connections, be inspired at girl-driven workshops and visit the world-famous ‘Hall of Experiences!’ Excited? One of the grandest moments of the convention (did we mention it only happens every third year) is the jaw-dropping, opening ceremony where you’ll laugh, dance and probably shed a few tears at the sheer emotion of saying the Girl Scout Promise in harmony with 10,000 others.

Details: Price includes coach bus transportation, convention registration fees and a commemorative G.I.R.L. Travel Kit! Price does not include most meals or hotels. The Program Team will work with you to coordinate your hotel, expected to range $131-$232 each night (put four people in a room and cut costs dramatically). Girls must attend with adults to meet safety ratios.

How To Earn the PatchThere are so many successful and powerful female entrepreneurs in Badgerland. Get to know and learn from them. How it works: Research and interview a female who runs her own business. Spend time talking with her and learning about what she does and why she became an entrepreneur. Invite her to mentor you and help brainstorm your own business start-ups. Create a business plan and present it to your mentor. Who knows? Maybe your next step will be launching a business before the year is out! Complete and submit the GIRLpreneur patch form to get your patch.

Bonus: Juniors will complete three steps of the Junior Business Owner badge and Cadettes earn the Entrepreneur badge by completing this patch program.

PROJECT PATCH GIRLpreneur: It’s My Biz! Patch

COMMUNITY SERVICE PATCH 31 Random Acts of KindnessFor: All Girl Scouts Program Runs: October 1-31, 2017

BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND! Last fall, Badgerland Girl Scouts conducted over 27,125 Random Acts of Kindness during the month of October. Let’s see if we can double the kindness this fall! Giving back and doing good deeds is part of our DNA. So, in October, we’re challenging Girl Scouts to do a good turn every day of the month.

How To Earn the PatchComplete 31 Random Acts of Kindness, one on each day in October. Need ideas? Think of ways to put a smile on someone’s face: leave a note, help a neighbor, save pennies and treat your little brother with an ice cream cone. The ideas are endless. Record the good deeds on the new Act of Kindness calendar at gsbadgerland.org (search for random acts of kindness). Complete the order form, submit it with payment and receive the newly designed patch in the mail.

COOL TRIVIA Here’s why we’re doing this special program in October: Our amazing Girl Scouts founder, Juliette Gordon Low, was born on October 31 so what greater tribute to her than by spreading Girl Scout goodness?!

PATCHESBadgerland Exclusive

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE Financial Assistance for program registration may be available for Badgerland sponsored programs. Find and complete the Program Financial Aid application form at gsbadgerland.org.

PROGRAM CONFIRMATION Confirmation will be emailed within 1 hour of registration. After you’re registered, you will also see the confirmation listed in your My GS account. Click the “My Activities” tab to see everything you’re signed up for and, for more information, click the information icon that looks like this . Additional information will be posted no later than two weeks before the event.

PAYING FOR PROGRAMS WITH BADGERLAND BUCKSBadgerland Bucks are earned through the cookie and “in a nutshell” programs, and may be used to pay for Badgerland-sponsored programs.

How it works: Register and pay for the program online with a credit card, then complete and submit the Badgerland Bucks Reimbursement Form at gsbadgerland.org (click forms). Badgerland Bucks can also be spent on resident camp, community-based Girl Scout camps and events, troop rental of council properties, Girl Scout Shop purchases and membership dues.

Registration InformationPROGRAM CANCELLATION POLICY Badgerland Council is reluctant to cancel programs. However, occasionally the need arises due to weather, safety concerns or low registration. When bad weather results in a cancellation, every attempt will be made to contact the registrants. Please maintain accurate contact information with Girl Scouts so staff can reach you in the event of a last minute cancellation.

REFUNDS Refunds are only given if written cancellations are received prior to the printed “register by” deadline. Full refunds are issued after the printed registration deadline for council programs only if the program is full or cancelled or in the event of a serious illness or death in the family. For serious illness, a doctor’s written note is required within one week after the program.

NOTE: Badgerland Program Partners follow their own business practices for cancellations and refunds.

ADULT SUPERVISION REQUIREMENTS A minimum of two adults must accompany every troop attending a program event unless otherwise stated. The adults must be registered Girl Scouts with a current background check on file. Our primary goal is to provide safe, outstanding programming for girls so space may not be available for additional adults beyond stated Girl Scout ratios.

Girl Scout Safety Ratios
