When you choose the Veterans Memorial Building, you get
the best of all worlds. This historic 1927 building has the
beauty and grandeur of old; towering columns, original
light fixtures or sweeping window views of the river. Each
space has its own personality.
The Ballroom is an intimate environment with large win-
dow views of the city and river.
The Coliseum is grand and spacious. Guests are welcomed
through the lobby by the Grant Wood Memorial Stained
Glass Window and a light show of your choice.
The Armory is historical and industrial; the exposed brick
walls and open ceiling give it the urban industrial vibe you
may be looking for.
Whatever your taste, you’re sure to find the right space at
a great price. Ask about our military discount.
Need an off the beaten path, change of pace,
space for a business meeting or corporate
event? Book the River Grille! This full service
restaurant is open for private events only.
The River Grille is nestled into the 3rd floor
of the First Avenue side of the building.
Just one floor below the Ballroom.
If you’d like to book the River Grille for your
event, give us a call. Rented by the hour or
as an add-on, this space provides beautiful
river views and a unique dining experience.
Johnson Avenue Hy-Vee provides all food
and beverage services in this space.
We leave the details to your team! Create the event
envisioned here. Our staff will place the tables to your
floorplan. We do ask that they are covered, but how is
up to you!
Catering can be provided by your favorite licensed,
insured caterers. Johnson Avenue Hy-Vee will provide
all alcoholic services, leaving one less decision on your
plate. And, if you’d like the ease of a single contact to
coordinate linens, food, and beverages, Johnson Avenue
Hy-Vee provides stellar complete event services.
