2 Set Up Your Wireless Router

1. Push here to detach SIM. 2. Press the silver button on the back cover and slide the cover up and away. Remove the battery.

3. Slide the SIM card into the SIM card slot with the gold contacts down and the notched corner facing out.

4. Align the gold contacts on the battery with the gold contacts in the battery compartment and snap the battery into place.

5. Slide the battery cover on and click into place.

5 Set Up BlackBerry Internet E-mail

3 Run Setup WizardThe Setup Wizard takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. The wizard helps you set up your e-mail address, personalize your device, and practice typing words, symbols, and passwords.

After you complete the wizard, you can open it again at any time by pressing the Menu key and selecting the Setup Wizard.

When you have subscribed to myFaves, you will see five circles on the main screen a few minutes after you have powered on your device.

Add A myFaves Contact1. At main screen, scroll to an

unassigned circle and press the Trackball.

2. Scroll to Create New or Get From Address Book and press the Trackball.

3. Type the or select the contact’s information.

4. Press the Menu key.5. At Save, press the Trackball.6. At Yes, press the Trackball to

confirm saving your contact.

The myFaves circle will display an hourglass while the contact is being updated. Once your contact is added, you will receive a confirmation and your contact will display on the main screen.

Notes: Each original icon/ringtone selection, and each change to an icon/ringtone may incur a separate download charge.

myFaves numbers may be changed a maximum of one time per calendar month.

Call myFaves ContactAt main screen, scroll to the contact and press the Send key.

Send Text Message1. At main screen, scroll to

contact name.5. Type your subject and message.6. Press the Trackball and then press

the Trackball again to select Send.

Read e-mail or text messages1. On Home screen, scroll to the

Manage e-mail and text messages1. Scroll to the message and press

press the Trackball to select Mark Unopened, Save, Reply, Forward, and Delete.

Text MessagingText messaging (SMS) allows you to receive and send short messages to mobile phones or devices that support text messaging.

You have new text messages or e-mail if you see this icon on the Home screen.

Compose and send text message1. On Home screen, scroll to the Messages icon and press

the Trackball to open the inbox. 2. Press the Menu key.3. Scroll to Compose SMS Text and press the Trackball.4. Scroll to the desired contact and press the Trackball or

scroll to [Use Once] and press the Trackball to type a phone number that is not in your contact list.

5. Type your subject and message.6. Press the Trackball and then press the Trackball again

to select Send.

Synchronize Calendar, Contacts, Tasks, Memos* You can synchronize contacts, calendar, tasks, and memos between your computer and your BlackBerry 8820.

1. Install BlackBerry® Desktop Software on your computer from the included BlackBerry® User Tools CD.

2. Connect your device to your computer using the USB cable.

3. Open BlackBerry® Desktop Manager software on your computer.

4. Double-click the Synchronize icon.5. Click Synchronize Now.

Change RingtoneYou can set your BlackBerry 8820 to notify you of appointments, incoming messages, calls, and browser contents. Your device has five notification profiles: Loud, Vibrate, Quiet, Normal, and Phone Only.

1. On Home screen, press the Menu key. 2. Scroll to Profiles and press the Trackball.3. Scroll down to Advanced... and press the

Trackball.4. Scroll to Loud, Vibrate, Quiet, Normal, or Phone

Only and press the Menu key. 5. Scroll to Edit and press the Trackball.6. Scroll to Phone and press the Trackball.7. Scroll to Tune and press the Trackball. You can

also change the volume and other profiles at this screen.

8. Scroll to the desired ringtone and press the Trackball.

9. Press the Menu key and then press the Trackball to select Save.

Other Features

Use Bluetooth® TechnologyYour BlackBerry 8820 comes with Bluetooth® technology, a wireless technology that enables data connection between your device and Bluetooth wireless headsets and other Bluetooth-enabled devices.

1. On Home screen, press the Menu key.

2. Scroll to Set Up Bluetooth and press the Trackball.

3. Select OK by pressing the Trackball. The device searches for available Bluetooth devices.

4. Scroll to a device and press the Trackball.

5. Type the passkey for the device you want to pair with and press the Trackball.
