    SpringsproutingofFall-plantedgarlic

Plant garlic in the fall and harvest next summer! Music and

Legacy are the varieties of garlic we grow as theyre especially

suited for our Canadian growing season.

Each organically-grown clove will grow into a medium sized

head with around 5-7 cloves per head. When cured and stored

properly, garlic will store well for many months after harvesting.

    Can be planted in containers,

    raised beds, or in-ground.

  • By Susan Sampson

Go to the backyard, pick, eat it's the ultimate in local food. The Young Urban Farmers, a

trio of business school grads, are on top of the trend. They set up and tend vegetable

gardens in TorontoWilson says the time was ripe for hiring the Young Urban Farmers. "I

had a space set aside for a vegetable garden and every year I said I was going to do it.

Then they came and knocked on my door....I love the idea of having herbs and

vegetables that I can cook with."

    By Josh Dehaas

Most urban foodies would love to grow their own organic spinach, but most of us barely

have time to stop at Sobeys on our way home from work. Recognizing Torontonians

collective lack of time (read: laziness), three recent business grads started Young Urban

Farmers, a service that turns clients yards into produce departments...This means that

naughty hosts can claim their organic salad greens are from their own garden, without

    ever lifting a spade.

    By Chris Atchison

Growing your own food isnt a new idea, but its an idea that strikes a chord with a lot of

people in my age group. They feel its one thing they can do to be more self-reliant and to

learn really valuable skills they take with them wherever they go....Last summer I grew

my own vegetable garden for the #rst time and I found it so rewarding, Ms. Munaretto

says. Being able to nourish myself and do something sustainable is such an easy thing to

    do.
