Faith in ActionNoah loved God and obeyed Him. But everyone else in the world did not. God became angry with His creation and decided to send a big flood to destroy the earth. But God saw that Noah was faithful. God told Noah how to build an ark that would save Noah and his family. He told him what he would need to build the ark. God promised to be with Noah and his family. God wanted to save the animals too. He told Noah to bring two of every kind on to the ark. Then God told Noah to bring enough food for the people and the animals on the boat. Noah did everything God told him to do.

Today, your child learned the story of God’s instructions to Noah to build the ark. God gave specific instructions to Noah for how big and tall the ark was to be. But the most important part is that God promised to establish His covenant with Noah after the Flood. This story demonstrates that the Lord cared enough for even one righteous man to save him and his family from the destruction of the Flood. Help your child understand that when we follow God and obey His commands, He will keep us from harm and bless us and keep His promises to us if we stay away from sin. Explain to your child that God has a plan for their lives and His plan is always better than our own.

LESSON 1 AT HOME

Today, you learned that God saved Noah and his family from the Flood by giving him a plan to prepare for it. God will save us, too if we follow Him and turn away from our sin. God wants us to live our lives for Him after He saves us, just as Noah did. He wants us to show His love to others so that they will be saved, too. This week, take some time to find other people in the Bible who were saved by God in amazing ways. A good place to start is how God saved His people in Exodus!
