By Christy Parker Harmony, Youghal's highly talented singing and dancing groupwill perform Weenie, a newly-written, musical comedy as theirChristmas 2010 presentation. The show will run for four nightsfrom December 6th. As the promotional blurb tells us, the time isthe 1960's, that gloriously optimistic era during which "we firstbegan asking the question we're still asking - 'What's happenin'man?!'" (Indeed, of late we've been asking it more than ever!) Theplace is Cork city with, like the old railway line of the time, stronglinks to Youghal.Weenie is written by Harmony's veteran stage and musical directorFinbar Hannon and features a cast of over 30. Its eclectic set ofcharacters present an array of "gamblers, chancers, baters, lovers,teddy-boys and teeny-boppers -and a dead cat." There is alsosomeone called Madge, "up from the country" and carrying moresuperstitions than a street load of ladders on Friday 13th. While the title role is played by Martin Hennessy, with Ruth Hayesas his friend Rita (both 28), the actors are cast as equal status."That's because the story is essentially about the "the innocenceand hidden strength of 'little' (ordinary) people at a head-spinningturning-point for us all," says PRO Ann Brookes. "Most of all," sheadds smilingly, "it is a hilarious, heart-warming love story with anexplosive, hand-clapping, toe-tapping finale!" A happy endingseems assured in this tale of pre-Nama Ireland. DebutThe play also marks Finbar's debut as a stage writer. Having firstnurtured, 20 years ago, the shadow of an idea that he might possi-bly consider chancing to write something for the theatre sometimeperhaps, he finally put the process to paper last May, applying thefinal full stop in August. In doing so, he has not only woven a story but has embellished itmagnificently with original songs alongside inspired parodies ofrecognisable tunes. Few writers/directors are better placed in thehistory of Youghal theatre to do so. Finbar's lengthy credit roll of success includes musical director ofsuch shows as The Communication Chord, Annie, South Pacific,Dancing as Lughnasa, Oklahoma and My Fair Lady. As an actor,he has won Best Actor Award at the All Ireland Drama Festival andplayed leading roles with Cork's Everyman and guested with theAbbey Touring Company. He can also reflect on many immenselysuccessful and fulfilling years with the Youghal Choral Society, during which many premier awards were acquired the length andbreadth of Ireland. For its part, Harmony is a self-supporting theatre company "dedi-cated to the development of singing and acting talent in the com-munity," says Ann. "We are entirely voluntary and needless to say,new members are forever welcome," she adds. The formula seems infallible. Since Hannon met Harmony, hailedproductions have included Many Young Men of Twenty, SomeEnchanted Evening, From Here to Broadway, Guys and Dolls andA Tribute to John B & Showtime. That's not to mention variousconcerts and recitals. The 2010 crew features several new faces, front of stage and back. Christmas spiritIt merits mention also that this year's show is presenting adaptableset units, along with a stage extension and steps unit. The non-technically minded will just have to employ their eyes to appreci-ate these innovations but their construction is due to the generosi-ty of Jimmy and Maurice Flanagan. The works have been donatedto the Mall Arts Centre for perpetual use by all local and visitinggroups. Makes up for the dead cat. Weenie runs at the Mall Arts Centre from Thursday December 6thto Sunday December 9th , commencing at 8pm. Adm: Adults €12,chislers €10, available on door or in advance from Cree's card shop(024) 93

LABOUR'S FAILURE TO CO-OPT A YOUGHAL COUNCILLOR

SET TO CONTINUEBy Christy Parker

Youghal Town Council will continue to operate with eight mem-bers for some time longer as the Labour Party continues its ludi-crous adherence to 'proper procedure' with regard to appointing asuccessor to Cllr Donie Daly. Labour party secretary Ita McAuliffe says the organisation is "nowconcentrating our efforts on the Dail selection conventions."Previous to its concerns with the "Dail selection convention," theLabour party had been too busy with the Donegal bye-election toaddress the requirements of the 380 Youghal voters who put theirparty on the local council. In a rhetorical comment that would gladden the heart of any Sovietpolitburo meeting, Ms McAuliffe also informs that "the canvasselection board has been opened" in regards to nominating, select-ing and ratifying a replacement for Cllr Daly. In plain speak thismeans that the Youghal branch has been invited to nominate a can-didate, which they did several months ago and which resulted inTomas O'Conaill representing the party at October's town councilmeeting.Nobody complained except the Labour party itself, which nullifiedthe nomination in a disproportionate show of exaggerated self-importance behind which, many suspect, lies political skuldug-gery. If so, it is symptomatic of the kind of stroke culture that haslanded Ireland in the mess in which it currently wallows. Theparty's argument was that, although Tomas O'Conaill was the onlycandidate, proper procedure -involving interview by a selectionboard, etc- was not pursued. Therefore the appointment was unau-thorised and even liable to cast illegality within council decisions. The secretary says the general election candidates for CorkSoutheast have been ratified but this does not benefit the situation."We have very limited resources," she says of the political partythat until recently dallied with the prospect of being Ireland's mostpopular, "and we are spreading all our staff very thinly across thecountry to get these selections in place." Ms McAuliffe says that "as soon as this process is completed wewill deal with other issues," but cannot estimate in weeks ormonths when Cllr O'Conaill's faith would be decided. A budgetdefeat followed by an early general election would see the partyproles "out there trying to get every poster up," she states, addingthat "we are not forgetting about Youghal -far from it." No, one istempted to respond, not forgetting -just ignoring us! In conclusion, the secretary declined to be drawn on whether asecond candidate might emerge to challenge Mr. O'Conaill's can-didacy, whether from within the Youghal branch (unlikely) or'parachuted in (probably unwelcome). Audibly irritated, she saidshe had "no idea" and reiterated that she would address the issueafter the minor business of Dail selections was completed.Whether its protracted inertia in Youghal boosts confidence in theparty in this constituency is a matter for speculation.

John Daly and his son SeanYoughal Credit Union Ltd. held its AGM in the Walter Raleighhotel on Tuesday November 23rd. The well attended meetingheard of the successful Youghal Credit Union had in the previousyear. The Chairperson, John Colbert, reported to members that thecredit union had 14,000 account holders who held a total of €70million in savings and borrowings of €41 million. Youghal CreditUnion Ltd. is "safe, strong and secure" he commented. Overall the level of savings and loans was comparable to last year. The total income received by the Credit Union marginallyincreased from last year's figure. The total of loans granted did, however, drop from €15.9 million in 2009 to €13.9 million in2010. The decrease represented a more cautious attitude by mem-bers to borrowing in the current economic climate. TheChairperson noted that the borrowings hopefully added to thegrowth of the local economy. He also mentioned the involvementof the Credit Union in being a major partner in funding the localenterprise centre.

The Chairperson reported that credit control was becoming amajor issue with the current levels of unemployment and the gen-eral downturn in the economy. As a prudent measure the CreditUnion has increased the provision for bad and doubtful debts by€1.3 million in line with the Regulator's recommendation. Heurged members who face difficulties to contact the Credit Unionimmediately. In light of the large provision for bad and doubtfuldebts the remainder of the year's surplus was used to increaseother reserves. A dividend of 075% was proposed along with aninterest rebate of 10% on interest paid last year.

The Treasurer, Karl Flavin, read through the accounts and waspleased to announce that Youghal Credit Union Ltd. recorded asurplus of €1.29 million for the past year. Other highlights report-ed by the Treasurer included loan interest income of €3.4 millionand investment income received amounting to €1.75 millionwhich represented a 7% increase on 2009.Bad debts written offincreased to €679,000. The Treasurer reiterated that these writtenoff loans are vigorously pursued.

Following on from the treasurer's report all the various commit-tees reported on their activities during the past year.

A draw was held for members in attendance and the prizes com-prised of a number of Youghal Chamber shopping vouchers forlocal shops.

It is something they can do by themselves, with family andfriends or as part of a group," said Tracy Kenneally, OperationsManager at Youghal Leisure Centre. The novel fundraiser is taking place at Aura leisure centresthroughout the country with the aim of raising €10,000 for theJack & Jill Foundation which provides care and support for chil-dren with severe neurological development issues, as well asoffering some respite to their parents and families. The Jack and Jill Foundation currently provides home nursing carefor thirty three children in county Cork at a monthly cost of€14,624 or an annual cost of €175,488. The children in Cork areamong the 308 that it cares for throughout the country. It costs€2.7 million to provide this level of care each year and theFoundation is hoping that fundraising will help to avoid cuts to itsbudget in 2011. They can return the card when they complete anyfive of the six challenges to effect the €10 donation to the Jack &Jill Foundation.Participants can only complete the challenge once but are encour-aged to take part with family and friends. Film recalls Childhood Memories For Michael O’Connell - hisrecent very successful showing of the film "Ballinascarty in theRare ol' times" at the Heritage Centre Clashmore, brought backnostalgic memories not just for all gathered by for Michael him-self. The occasion brought back great memories of Michael'schildhood in Kilmore, walking to the "old" school in the 1950'swith a modest lunch of bread and a bottle of Milk which would beput standing by the fire to heat. A fire which would have been litearlier in the day with sticks collected in near by Kennedy's woodby two pupils who would have been assigned to the job for theweek. The teaching staff at that time were Mr Supple and MrsPrendergast. For most of the time - the short cut through the fields was taken toschool except when they had some pocket money and then theywould go via the village stopping off at "Burkes" for sweets.Pocket money was hard earned picking potatoes or blackberriesand of course dazzling rabbits with his brother Noel and friend JoeJoyce. Michael recalls one particular all souls night when again allthree were our dazzling again when they came upon what seemedlike a person dressed in all white as it passed along the field. Thetwo dogs were swift to pursue the figure but returned to the ladswith a terrified expression as they all witnessed the figure - do theimpossible disappear straight through a thick high blackthornhedge. Three candles were lighting in the Kitchen as they returnedhome to Kilmore- only to be greeted with a scolding for being outon such a night. Nothing was mentioned of the strange sight, which they had just witnessed the following day the boys returnedto the scene of the phenomena only to discover there was no signof anything having broken through the thick hedge, which had onehundred feet, drop on the other side!Michael also recalled another strange event from the village -when Tom Beston - owner of the Garage located at the Top of thevillage got a baby fox - he tamed the fox, fed and treated it like adog - the fox grew big and strong, However it never lost its hunt-ing instincts as Michael recalls the moment Brigie Keating's cockand five hens got free and they were targeted by the pet fox.Michael remembers it on a lead tied to a trailer at the top of the vil-lage, but because it would not take cover under the trailer duringthe hot summer sun it received sunburn and died shortly after-wards. Fishing with Willie Ronayne when payment of a red €20note was like winning the lotto. Like so many others Michael remembers too the days when treesand brambles grew up through a roofless old church building at thetop of the village. The building, which has now being lovingly, restored and become "The heritage centre" the venue used for theshowing of this film. Michael paid tribute to the wonderful com-mittee Davie and Bridie Foley, Liam Curran, Billy Dunne, T OMurphy, Mary Dower, Kit Lombard, Veronica Curran who didTrojan work restoring this building. Michael made special presen-tation Davie and Bridie Foley in recognition for their voluntarycontribution to the Clashmore community for decades Cheque presentation to S.E.R.TS.E.R.T - South East Radiotherapy Trust was set up to providesupport and transport for radiotherapy cancer patients travelling toCork University Hospital 5 days a week, Monday to Friday for

When god calledMary Jo home on May 17th 2010 the great linkto another generation was severed. Though shehas resided with her family in England duringthe final years of her life she has never lost con-tact with her native area. On Sunday October24th a celebration of Mary Jo's life took place withrequiem mass celebrated by Fr Maurice O Gorman atSt Cronins Church Clashmore, during the mass members of MaryJo's family participated with the readings and bidding prayers andthe following tribute which brought beautiful memories of theMary Jo we all knew and loved was read."Today we have returned to Clashmore for the Burial of MaryJohanna Cronin or Mary Jo as she was always known. Many ofyou will remember her living in Coolboa, where she spent most ofher life. She was blessed with a long life of almost 98 years sur-viving her siblings, Cis and Willie Connors and Lil Beston.Mary Jo was widowed at a very young age when her daughters

Pearl and Nan were still babies They were all welcomed back tothe Connors Family home where they gained much experience offarm life and also benefited greatly from learning to do the practi-cal everyday house hold chores Mary Jo enjoyed a good social life. Her relative's neighbours andfriends saw that she got to many social events. She loved to singand dance and was known to give a song or two when coaxed in toit She liked to relate the story of the time she sang solo in thechurch choir here in Clashmore when for some reason the rest ofthe choir members were absent The lord must have granted herrequest as it was her greatest wish.Pearl and Nan went to London in the '50's Mary Joe travelled overto help each time one of the six grandchildren arrived. She wasthere also for Baptisms, First Holy Communion, Confirmationsand Weddings. Later back in Ireland she welcomed them and theirfriends to share her home for holidays. They all recall her hospital-ity and have many great memories of their stay with her. When Mary Jo's age and health gave cause for concern the answer

was for her to move to London to be close to the family. This wasnot a cultural shock for her with her experience of being there somany times over the years It gave her the pleasure getting to knoweach of the 13 great - grandchildren as they came along. To thevery end of the life she would want to be told about what they weredoing and to follow their progress at school and at work Their vis-its were always a big highlight for her She missed out on actuallyseeing the latest addition to the family circle here in Ireland hergreat grand nephew Jamie but she followed his development fromthe photos sent to her and she would ask for the latest news of him.She loved getting letters from home and kept them to read over andover again Replying to letters was a lovely pastime for her whileshe was able and then keeping in touch by phone became here nextbest thing.Mary Jo moved permanently to London 11 years ago. In the lastthree years she needed extra care and was looked after in the nurs-ing home close to Nan and her family. She settled in well there thefamily were able to visit at any time and she would always ask"Any news from Clashmore?" She was visited by the legion ofMary and by members of the St Pio Prayer Group. She was welllooked after by the Parish Clergy, and by the ExtraordinaryMinisters who gave her Holy Communion, prayers and sanghymns. Many times we went into the nursing home and heardstrains of an Irish song coming from the music centre, keeping theresidence entertained All nationalities were catered for in thatregard. Mary Joe was a very spiritual devout lady, with a great loveof Holy Mass and our blessed lady. Her rosary was in her handsnight and day. When she was unable to go to mass she listened toSunday Mass on R.T.E She prayed for everyone else's needs beforeher own. She loved going to Knock Lourdes and many othershrines in England Her spirituality was her priority in life and thatis a legacy well worth leaving behind We will miss the words ofwisdom and knowledge which we availed of many times. We aresad to say our final farewell but we remember her wonderfulexample Please god Mary Jo is now reunited with her husbandVincent after such a long separation and with all the deceasedmembers of both their families - May the souls and all the souls ofall the faithful departed rest in peace amen"Following mass Mary Jo's remains were interred in the adjoiningcemetery Mary Jo's family will be eternally grateful to everyonewho welcomed and supported them at this sad time especially FrO Gorman all who came to pay their final respects to Mary Jo andoffered their sympathy and support to them. We pray that god willcomfort all of Mary Jo's family at this time we extend to them ourdeepest sympathy Clashmore - Kinsalebeg Ladies Football Christmas Night Out Our annual club Christmas night our for members and friendstakes place on Friday night December 18th - assembling at theDecies Bar for food - time to be confirmed. Mike just launched his latest publication'SARS' last month, - in which over twenty new writers contributedtheir experiences of growing up on top of the hill. In the course oftheir conversation Mike revealed his hopes and dreams of host-ing a "Writers' week-end" next year here in their native town -Something like the writers' week in Listowel - but on a lesserscale! As the town now has about 30 to 35 local writers. Whenyou add those to the twelve people from the town who has alreadypublished works, there is a platform to start from. Colm expresseda huge interest in the idea and said he would love to give a talk tolocal intending authors on the art of research, presentation, eco-nomics and publications of their works. Considering the tremen-dous interest nowadays in tracing one's background, family treesand local history it is a opportune time to avail of the professionaladvice that Colm is willing to give his fellow towns people. By Christy ParkerYoughal's experiences during the devouring years of the CelticTiger are considered in a critical documentary to be screened atthe Walter Raleigh next Sunday night (December 12th). TownOut Of Time, produced by local film makers Michael Twomeyand Kieran McCarthy, casts a caustic eye across the changes to thetown during the boom times and unavoidably concludes thatsomething very rotten was a long time festering beneath theveneer of sometimes uncomfortable optimism that prevailed. Using archive and contemporary footage, the half-hour "sociolog-ical documentary" considers various aspects in which the townhas declined or failed to prosper. There's the decline of the towncentre in a time when Lidl and Tesco arrived on Youghal's periph-ery. The film considers the ongoing neglect of the railway station,no to mention the imposition of some hideous apartment complex-es that have forever scarred forever the beauty of the town's natu-ral landscape. Perhaps most poignantly, it reflects on the displace-ment of over 2,500 jobs through the closure or relocation ofalmost a dozen factories. Much unemployment occurred even prior to the current recession, causing former Chamber of Commerce Chairman Michael Farrellto comment that Youghal was a town "bypassed by the CelticTiger." In many ways, we seem to have got the brief proliferationof jobs without sustainable infrastructure to build upon for thefuture. While the camera does much of the talking, the footage also seesUCC experts on sustainable development, Dr. Kieran Keohaneand Brendan O'Sullivan, provide comment, as do local businessrepresentatives and other leading community and political figures. The film is in some way a microscopic reflection of a nationalstory, encapsulating what Michael calls "the ramifications ofgreed and apathy" and whence "money was in the hands of spec-ulators while politicians made wrong decisions." However, it largely projects Youghal as a town bypassed by theCeltic Tiger, with factories pulling out in boom time and littlemore than 'luxury apartments,' driven by greed-fuelling tax incen-tives, replacing them. "No shopping centre or cinema came toYoughal, yet Midleton and Dungarvan acquired such excellentfacilities," Michael observes. "We have to ask why." Ultimately, the film doesn't apportion blame to any specific quar-ter. "It's basically a sociological essay and raises questions more-so than answers. We just hope it will stir debate. Local politiciansand business representatives have been invited and there will betime for discourse on the night," he concludes. If the best future'sare built on the toughest past then that is to be welcomed as a start. Town Out Of Time is at the Walter Raleigh Hotel on SundayDecember 12th at 8 pm. Admission free. LOCAL DOCUMENTARY REFLECTS ONYOUGHAL'S CELTIC 'BOOM-TIME DECLINE.'

Page 16: Youghal News - December 9th 2010

By Christy Parker In grateful appreciation, Jim Flanagan, joint organiser of theMemories of the Voice of Youghal CD launch, has taken time toexpress his gratitude to several people who contributed to occa-sion before, during and since the November 22nd night of celebra-tion at the GAA pavilion. (Certainly the 47th anniversary of theassassination of President Kennedy passed without as much as acup thrown!) Not so silent nightJim, who also compered excellently on the night, thanks WillieO'Mahony for DVD production, Thomas Bulman and MichaelHussey for photographic contributions and The Youghal Newsalong with CRY's Noel Cronin & staff for media coverage. Hevoices appreciation to Patsy O'Regan who was salesman-in-chiefon the door (and who handed over 178 CDs @at the requisite €10each) and to ticket sellers Margaret Carey and friends, who soldraffle tickets. Prize givers The Butcher Boy, Doyle's Takeway, theBrookes Super Valu (or the L&N as he romantically calls it, show-ing his age!), Costcutters, Albert Muckley jewellers, Centra, JimFlanagan and Ken Bulman are also credited. Youghal Mayor, Mary Linehan-Foley is thanked for her presenceand kind words, including her tribute to Nooche Kenefick, whoseconsideration and worthy canonisation constituted a large part ofthe proceedings. There are kudos too for musicians Celtic Invasion, music engineerWarren Tivy of Claycastle Studios, Tony Irwin (CD cover design)and Kevin Daly who organised the singers' contribution on thenight. Jim feels further beholden to singers for their excellentlyentertaining performances and for their presentation to Nooch. The organiser meets the almost mandatory requirement of thank-ing Mark Landers, whose inspired initiative sparked the event inthe first place. He concludes his appreciation, on behalf of Markand himself, by thanking all who attended the launch and whohave purchased CDs. "On my own behalf I enjoyed every minuteof the night and I hope everyone else did also," he says. CD for charityContributions acknowledged, Jim reflects that the occasion's over-riding purpose is to sell CD's and by extension, to assist thestrained finances of the Youghal Hospice. "It was all about char-ity and unless we sell enough CDs charity doesn't win," he surmis-es. He advised that Memories of the Voice of Youghal can be pur-chased at Cree's, Greenbarn, Costcutters, Crowley's, JohnKennedy's and one or two other outlets." He accurately advocatesthe audial piece of Youghal history that they are, as "great keep-sakes and ideal Christmas presents. They provoke terrific memo-ries," he adds. Heaven knows, memories are fast becoming themost precious commodity in this country. Buy now before the

banks, politicians and European bureaucrats try to confiscatethem.

By Christy Parker Youghal's most melodious waiter Michael Del Punto, serves up asinging delicacy with the release of Michael Del Punto'sChristmas Collection. The seven-track predominates with- knownclassics masterfully rendered in typical jazz/swing style by the 20year-old crooner. The CD, limited to 500 copies for the Christmasmarket, was launched at the Nook bar on Friday December 2nd. Now regarded as one of Ireland's most promising talents, thesinger was recently recruited to perform with Ireland's GardaBand in Youghal. His Christmas CD hears him accompanied by afull band of highly-talented and experienced civic performers ashe delivers a work of exquisite accomplishment. The full line-upruns as Michael Del Punto (vocals), Jenny Stack (backing vocals),Pat Barratt (double bass), Ollie Loughnan (drums), Roy Kelleher(trumpet)Warren Tivy (keyboards). Nothing half-bakedthere and the musicalmenu features: NewYork at Christmas, TheChristmas Song, Let itSnow, Tu Scendi DalleStelle (Italian carol -translates as You ComeDown From TheStars), Silver Bells,White Christmas andSanta Clause IsComing To Town.Though sang many times by many artists, Del Ponto manages toapply originality in his interpretations. A second year economics student in UCC, Michael works part-time at Youghal's Italian-flavoured Capri Bay restaurant, where hewill often deliver a serenade with spaghetti. He considers his cur-rent creation as "much better" than his first CD, which itself wasan accomplished EP -perhaps retrospectively best deigned as ataster. Reared in Grange, he describes the collection as "favourites fromchildhood" but mentions two songs in particular. "The first trackwas written by American Richard Courier and recorded by RobThomas in the mid-'70's. It never took off but it's a great song andI want to resurrect it," he elaborates. "It's dedicated to my brotherwho will be spending Christmas in New York." A second trackdear to his heart is Silver Bells. "For the simple and endearing rea-son that "it's a duet with my girlfriend Jenny Stack," he explains. The whole shebang took about six weeks to record at ClaycastleStudios, under the diligent dexterity of producer Warren Tivy. "Ifit wasn't for his guidance it just wouldn't have happened at all. He's brilliant," Michael observes. Michael Del Punto's Christmas Collection coast €9.95 and isavailable in Youghal from Broderick's, Touch of Class, Capri Bay,Cree's Card Shop, the Cyber Room and of course from SantaClaus late on December 24th.

The Tour ofFlanders is 260 km in length and is one of the oldest, and accord-ing to one Lance Armstrong, hardest one day races on the profes-sional calendar. 19,000 people participated in this event when theytravelled from all corners of the Globe. A great weekend was hadcycling but what topped it off was the company we kept while stay-ing in our Hotel in Gent. None other than the Professional TeamGarmin graced our presence for the entire weekend. Can't wait todo it again.KILMALLOCK HUB TOUR Kilmallock CC held the first bigorganized tour of the year in April 2010 and a group of seven mem-bers from Youghal CC traveled up to participate. Youghal 11 Nenagh 14 - Sunday 21st November.Despair filled the air around Frogmore after Youghal ladies suf-fered defeat in the final play of the game.Youghal looked the settle the score following a constant seasonalbattle with the Tipperary side. It was however clear from the refer-ees initial whistle that there was very little separating these. A con-stant tug of war possession wise was the general occurrence of thefirst half. The limerick side gaining the first points from a power-ful run from their experienced 1st centre, poor defending from theseaside’s made this even more gut wrenching. The outhalf slottingover this straightforward conversion bringing the score to Youghal0 Nenagh 7. Youghal ladies quickly retaliated with some textbookteam play following crash ball from the forwards creating room forthe fancy footed faultless performer Tamar Jayawardene to giveYoughal a deserved pointer and nerve settler. Moments before halttime Youghal were awarded a penalty which kate Sheehan com-fortably shoot between the posts leaving Youghal gripping the leadat half time Youghal 8 Nenagh 7.With both sides desiring the win the physicality was ferocious fromboth sides. This worked to Youghals advantage gaining anotherpenalty which Kate Sheehan slotted over bringing Youghal 4 pointsclear. The general belief of the supporters is that Yougal hadclinched thi,s, but Nenagh were settling for no less than victory.Nenagh left it late, the last play in fact. Youghal ladies gained pos-session against the head in the scrum however the kick to touchattempt fell short with Youghals chase up resulted in a knock on.With yet another Nenagh scrum the ball was flashed out to thebacks with their powerful 1st centre dived over the try line withtwo Youghal players clinging on they couldn’t deny her score.Adding more salts to the wounds the outhalf converted bringing thefinal score Youghal 11 Nenagh 7 . Player of the match goes to reliable anchor at the back of the scrumnumber 8 Ciara O’ Flaherty for her exceptional work rate through-out play.Superb performance in the backs from the newly posi-tioned 2nd centre Tamar Jayawardene, a continuous threat to theopposition.Team: J.
