On behalf of the York Federation of Students, I would like to thank all our sponsors for a very successful YorkFest 2014. This year marked on 17th annual YorkFest, where we saw a record amount of students and sponsors participating in our welcome back week. We exceeded expectations this year with support from over 40 sponsors and being about to host over 200 clubs at the Festival Village.

YorkFest still remains the largest orientation festival in Canada, where we cater to over 56,000 students with various events to orient them to York University. In a university as large as ours, having events that allow students to learn more about their campus and get involved is highly important in fostering student success. This year we held over 8 events that ranged from various interests and met capacity at every single event. All of this would not be possible without the continuous support from our gener-

ous sponsors that help us integrate students into our community.

We are confident that YorkFest will continue to be an effective touch point for brands to interact with the student demographic. With over 30,000 students that attended the festival village our diverse student body was able to engage with your companies as well as get active for the upcoming year.

This event would not have been a success without the generous support you have provided us throughout. We deeply appreciate the willingness with which you have and continue to sponsor our welcome back event, which helps assist our students with inte-grating into our community. We sincerely hope that this relation-ship will be maintained and that your organization will continue to support us for YorkFest 2015!

Best,

Jessica ThyriarProgramming & Campus Life Coordinator

thank you

testimonials“I absolutely loved YorkFest! We had about 65 events cross Canada and I would say that YorkFest was my favorite! Aside from the event itself being a success, the coordinators were beyond helpful, informative and efficient when it came to organizing everything.

In addition, we were offered a prime location given the size of our activation and the number of tables that we present. Whether I am with Scotiabank or a new client I hope to be a part of YorkFest in some way again.”

Victoria Ciampichini, Scotiabank, Returning Sponsor

“New to the York University community, we’re thrilled to have participated in YorkFest. Jessica anticipated our every need, went above and beyond to ensure our success and comfort and offered great York-specific guidance and advice. Jessica was available 24/7 and we would have been lost without her.  YorkFest was professionally organized, ran smoothly and we met with lots of fantastic students and York community members.  Jessica and her team are to be commended both for the lead-up to YorkFest and the event itself.  We look forward to continuing to work with the York Federation of Students (YFS) and now consider our sponsorship for YorkFest 2015 as a can’t-miss program for the 2015/2016 school year.”

-Rob Gilmour, Student Carshare, New Sponsor

As a second year student the YorkFest Festival Village was a

great experience that opened my eyes to the variety of organizations that York has to offer.”

“Our Rogers and Fido Teams had an amazing time at YorkFest 2014 for many reasons. It was very well organized and Jessica and her team made the it a very easy and efficient process for the sponsors to participate. They prepped everything!

The Festival Village was a very vibrant environment which made the event fun. With all the vendors being out and about, it helped that students arrived to the event with the mindset of purchasing or signing up, which made the sales process easier for my team. We loved having a DJ onsite, which was key to keeping the energy levels up during the event.”

-Natalie Kim, Lifestyle Communications Inc., New Sponsor

“Yorkfest was busier than ever this year!  The students were all very eager and interested in hearing about our services and talking to us about what The Princeton Review has to offer in the York community.  It was a pleasure working with such supportive and organized coordinators and we are looking forward to participating again in 2015.”

-Virginia Woodall, Princeton Review, Returning Sponsor

”“ I absolutely loved YorkFest! We had about 65

events cross Canada and I would say that YorkFest was my favorite!

“USAY being apart of Yorkfest has created a lot of visibility for South Asian students on campus. There are a lot of events, campaigns and services we do throughout the year that South Asian students do not know about. And being apart of YorkFest has always attracted more students and has helped a lot of South Asian students navigate throughout York. It would be great to be apart of YorkFest for this upcoming year as well.”

–Mahera Hayat, Chairperson, United South Asians at York

“The York Festival Village is a great chance for communities to expand, as VP of Operations for FCSC last year, it allowed me to get more Founders students to get involved with our community. It gave FCSC a chance to teach students across campus about what the student council has to offer, and how it would better their university experience.”

-Emiljano Mance, President, Founders College Student Council

advertisementsyorkfest posters

To ensure students were aware of all YorkFest festivities for such a large cam-pus, we printed over 600 posters and had volunteers place them around cam-pus. The posters included Platinum sponsors logos, the date, time and location of the events and a small description along with contact information. Specific posters also had contributing sponsors logos on them. We had three posters runs leading up to YorkFest to ensure posters were always up.

rave CarDs

This year we promoted YorkFest from the first day of school from 8am till 7pm everyday till the day of YorkFest. We had over 100 volunteers placed at high traffic areas around campus handing out

rave cards. After every conversation, we ensured to hand students rave cards that included the weeklong of events, our sponsor’s logo’s from specific categories as well as information of who to contact for more information. By the first week, we had handed out over 10,000 rave cards, and had to order 10,000 more. The rave cards were essential for students to be able to have the location and informa-tion for all the events.

We ran full-page colour ads for three weeks, with over 16,000 copies that were circulated.
