Destination: GuangzhouModeled upon the prestigious Yale Model United Nations conference – currently in its thirty-ninth session and held annually in New Haven, Connecticut on Yale’s historic campus – Yale Model United Nations China (YMUN China) promises to deliver the same dynamic and challenging experience of YMUN in New Haven to delegates who will be attending the unforgettable English-speaking four-day conference we have planned for them in Guangzhou. Why YMUN China?Vibrant Committee AtmosphereAll committees at YMUN China undergo a rigorous selection process, fine-tuned during 40 years of YMUN Committee sessions at our flagship conference in New Haven, CT. Committees at YMUN are renowned for their expansive subject matter and in-depth investigative topic guides and sessions. Delegates will participate in the most dynamic, interesting, and thought-provoking committees they have ever encountered.

Dedicated Yale Staff YMUN China’s Secretariat and Dais Staff is selected from an elite pool of Yale College students belonging to the Yale International Relations Association (YIRA). YIRA is a student-led non-profit organization on Yale’s campus whose members are passionate about international affairs and Model United Nations. YMUN staff members boast years of MUN experience, and all of our Chairs undergo extensive training prior to arriving in Guangzhou. Our staff is interested in providing an experience that is at once intellectually stimulating and also entertaining, along with providing the best in-committee experience for their delegates.

Enthralling Surroundings The city of Guangzhou is the third-largest in China, and it is alive with famous centers for shopping, dining, and sightseeing. Well-known for its delicious Cantonese cuisines, long and winding shopping roads, and cruises along the gorgeous Pearl River, Guangzhou leaves YMUN China delegates with no end to venues for rest and relaxation outside of committee.

Professional and Intellectual FocusAs an English-speaking conference expecting heightened levels of debate, YMUN China seeks delegates with confidence in their ability to communicate persuasive and enlightening commentary in reference to pertinent international issues. YMUN China aims for its delegates to work on their articulation; in addition, delegates are expected to enter the conference prepared for an in-depth and quick-paced conversation with students whose innovative ideas and carefully considered reasoning are meant to benefit each other. This exchange of ideas and information shapes the framework for critical debate that makes YMUN China a professionally and intellectually engaging experience for every delegate!
