YMCA OF SAGINAW YOUTH GUIDE Fall 2017 Camps Fun days filled with swimming, arts & crafts, new games, nature exploration, sports, songs, field trips and friendships. Camps are offered during the school year and all summer long. Camp details are available at SaginawYMCA.org. Take a break from the ordinary and make an extraordinary memory at a Y Camp. Sports Through YMCA youth sports programs, your child will improve skills, overcome challenges, make new friends, be active and develop lifelong passions. Our YMCA offers year-round youth sports for children ages 3-12. From playing in an action-packed game to learning the fundamentals, we provide an atmosphere that is fun and develops self confidence. Family Fun for All The Kid Zone at the Y is base camp for fun for the entire family. From babies 6 weeks old on up to 9 years of age the friendly and caring staff keep the kiddos and family engaged in events like child watch while parents work out, Midday Getaway, Kids Night Out, and the best birthday parties ever! Swim Lessons No organization is more qualified to teach children aquatic safety. The Y’s national swim lesson program utilizes a clear progression track based upon age and ability. Participants build confidence to reach swimming skill milestones. Visit SaginawYMCA.org aquatics section to find full details on this exciting program. Prior to registering for a group swim lesson participants need to attend a test out day so we can properly place them at the correct starting point. Swim test dates: August 30/31, September 27/28, October 25/26, November 29/30, December 27/28 from 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm Private or Semi– Private Swim Lessons Ages 3-99. Kid Zone Programs Parents Night Out

AN EVENING AWAY WHILE YOUR KIDS PLAY, PLAY, PLAY! Fun filled themed evenings where kids can be

kids and parents can have an evening to themselves. Crafts, games, swimming, movies and more make this

the one Saturday every month that the whole family looks forward to.

Ages: 1 - 12 years

Time: 4:00 pm - 10:00 pm with dinner served typically at 6 pm

Cost: Y Member child $20 and $5 for each additional Y-Member child. Child(ren) must be active on a

membership. Non-Y Member child $30 and $10 for each additional Non-Y Member child.

Midday Getaway

The YMCA of Saginaw will be open for drop-off childcare. Parents, leave your

child(ren) with our wonderful Kid Zone staff, and you can get out for the

afternoon. That’s right! You are allowed to leave the building when your kids

are registered for this program. The staff will watch, entertain, and play with

your children in Kid Zone and the Youth Gym. Please make sure to bring their

bag full of anything they may need.

Best Birthday Party Ever!

Memories start at the Y. Parties are packed full of fun and last for two hours. Includes

party coordinator, tables and chairs for up to 20 children and adults. Bring your own table

decorations, paper products, utensils, cake or food. Two themes to choose from Sports

Mania (flexible times) or Splash Bash.

Ages: 1-12

Days & Times: Saturdays and Sundays

Youth Sports Programs Flag Football

Hut, Hut, Play! Fast paced fun and sportsmanship for all.

Ages: 3 - 12 years

Rookies and Role Models

A skill development program designed to introduce preschool players to the fundamentals, such as:

Soccer: kicking on inside of foot, passing, kicking and running, kicking goals, goal keeping

Football: catching, passing, running, grabbing flags, scoring touchdowns

Baseball: catching, throwing, running the bases, rules of the game

Basketball: dribbling, shooting, passing Parents encouraged to participate with their rookie. Ages: 3 - 4 years

Days: Saturdays (4)

Dates: Nov 11, 18 and Dec 2, 9

Time: 9:00 am - 10:00 am

Cost: Y Family Members Free, Y Youth Members $15, Non Members $25

Youth Basketball

Basketball leagues provide children with an introduction to the sport in a

fun and exciting environment. The league introduces new skills, enhances

preexisting abilities, and teaches the rules of the sport providing growth

through development within the child.

Ages: 3 - 12 years

Days: Tuesdays & Thursdays

Dates: December 5 - January 4

Time: 5 pm - 7:30 pm (Grouped by age)

Cost: Y Family Members Free, Y Youth Members $15, Non Members $25

Girls on The Run and Heart and Sole Programs

Inspires girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively

integrates running. The 10-week season concludes with all participants walking or running in a

celebratory, non-competitive 5k (3.1 mile) event. Online registration will be open August 21st through

September 10th at www.gotrsaginawbay.org.

Ages: GOTR 3rd grade - 5th grade, Heart and Sole 6th grade - 8th grade

Days: GOTR meet Tuesday / Thursday 4:30-6:00 pm and

Heart and Sole Monday / Wednesday 4:30-6:00 pm.

Dates: September 11th and concludes with the Girls on the Run Reindeer Run 5k on November18th.
