We’re halfway through the year. I hope you have met and exceeded the goals you set for yourself in January. With a good plan and perseverance, you can meet any goal. And if you get stuck, help from a partner can make all the difference. Partnerships are key to the Y’s mission. When we partner with like-minded individuals or organizations, and combine resources, more people benefit and more lives are changed.

The YMCA of Greenville is excited to announce a new partner in wellness, one that will help Greenville County become a healthier place to live, work, and play. Nutrition Solutions is a Greenville company founded by Dr. Eric Bour; his partners at the GHS Y cafe include Dietician Chris Ilcheson and Chef Matt Weeks. Their expertise will provide members and the public with convenient, healthy meals and snacks.

And our existing partnerships continue to remain strong. The Greenville Health System and the Y’s Partners Achieving Total Health, or PATH, initiative aims to reduce the rate of chronic illness by increasing access to places where people can be physically active and get expert advice on their health. The PATH initiative also includes the PATH membership, which grants members access to all of the YMCA of Greenville locations and the GHS Life Center. PATH membership is the best value and makes keeping on track with your exercise plan easy and convenient.

Speaking of “easy,” the Y is proud of the work LiveWell Greenville has accomplished. LiveWell, which strives to make the healthy choice the easy choice, has increased Greenville County students’ access to healthy food through the LiveWell at School program, and led companies toward a healthier workforce through the LiveWell at Work initiative.

All the partnerships the Y has, in turn, allows us to be a better partner for you, the Y member. Any time you need help, whether it is learning a new exercise, staying on track with your nutrition, or even if you need help affording a membership or youth sports tuition, the Y is here for you. We are your partner in health.

Yours in health,Scot BaddleyPresident and CEO, YMCA of Greenville

oPen Doors Membership and program fees pay for only the direct cost of services. We seek additional financial support in order to make the Y available to all in our community, regardless of their financial situation. It is through contributions from individuals and companies committed to this community and the values of the YMCA who make it possible for us to provide for scholarships. By supporting families in their efforts to be successful, our neighborhoods become safer, healthier, better places to live and work.

Preserve oUr Most PreCioUs resoUrCeWater conservation is the most cost-effective and environmentally sound way to reduce our demand for water. Find out what you can do to make sure Greenville has enough water now and for the future.

WAter ConservAtion tiPs:Turn off water while you brush your teeth and save up to four gallons per minute. That's 200 gallons each week for a family of four.

Keep your tap water cold in the refrigerator rather than running water until it's cold enough for drinking.

When washing your car, use a bucket with soapy water. Use a nozzle on your hose for rinsing. This will control the flow of water.
