STEP 1: The surface, walls,
fl oors, where you are going to
place the mosaic sheet, mustbe
perfectly smooth and leveled to
obatain the perfect fi nish.
STEP 2: Adjust the plate
and place on the base spread
with glue.
STEP 3: Press with
the help of a wood or
a rubber trowel.
STEP 4: To join, apply a
layer of the especial joining
product wiht a rubber
spatula.
STEP 5: Clean with a damp
sponge. Rinse and dry with
avery dry cloth. Rİnse and
dry with avery dry cloth.
Technical Specifi cationsWATER ABSORBENCYDry glass mosaics are dipped into the boiling water for two
hours, afterwards, they are kept in water for four hours to
cool off. Weight difference is measures in order to decide
whether there is water absorbency.
The result of this test A = 0,1%
According to classifi cation
A < 3% low water absorbency
3% < A < 10% Average water absorbency
A> 10% high water absorbency
ABRASION RESISTANCEIn the test that is conducted by the contact of the abrasive
substances (steel balls, aluminum oxide, water) on the Glass
Mosaic surface, the glass mosaic samples that were subject
to abrasion evaluation test and those that were not subject
to the mentioned test were visually compared. The grade
obtained as a result of this test was 2 and on the 600th
cycle the abrasion defi ciencies were visually conspicuous.
General grades were between 0 - 5; this is from a lower
resistance to a higher one.
FREEZING RESISTANCEFreezing and melting procedures were performed 100
times on the glass mosaics. Glass mosaic temperature is
lowered down to -5°C and kept for 15 minutes, then, the
temperature is raised to +5°C and kept for 15 minutes. At
the end of this test procedure, no damage occurred on the
surface and edges of the mosaics.
CHEMICAL RESISTANCEThe glass mosaics are dipped into the solutions given in the
following schema.
Chemical Resistance Test Solutions Results
House Cleaning Products Ammonium Chloride ASwimming Pool Salts Sodium Hypochloride AAcid and Base, Chlorhydric Acid AWeak Concentration Citric Acid APotassium Hydroxide AAcid and Base, Chlorhydric Acid AStrong Concentration Potassium Hydroxide AClassifi cation is as A, B, C and A defi nes the best result.
RESISTANCE AGAINST STAININGGlass Mosaics are dipped into different stain leaving
substances and cleaning procedure from the simplest to
the most complex is applied. This test has results in fi ve
categories. The best result is 5 and it decreases towards 1.
Stain Type Stain Factor Result
Green Stain leaving Residue 5Rust stains formed as a result of chemical action 5Stains forming a thin membrane olive oil 5
SCRATCH HARDNESSWhen performed according to Mohe scale, the test result
obtained by rubbing some materials with hands on the glass
mosaic surface is 5. Grades were between 0 - 10 and it is
listed from the best to the least.
ACCCELERATED WEARIn this procedure, the glass mosaics were dipped into
cold-hot cycle 25 times. It is kept at room temperature for
4 hours, in water at 85°C for 4 hours and in a box at -15°C
for 18 hours. After the realization of the test, there is no
effect to be reported concerning the glass mosaics.
