Hello, my name is Elizabeth Huber. I am the resource Coordinator with the Southwest EnterpriseRegion (SWER). We are a non-profit economic development organization.

We believe in pushing the competitive envelope in Southwest Saskatchewan and youth are animportant demographic to connect with in the region. More importantly, we want them toknow there are options to make their life here. Youth have unique ideas and opinions and wewant them to be strong and empowered leaders. We want to create an environment in theSouthwest where youth can see real results. Why? Because we believe that with the propertools youth can be passionate effectors of change.

In recent years there has been an increase emphasis and focus on youth programs andinitiatives. Many ask youth their thoughts and opinions. For example, recent projects such asthe aSK Youth Program through the SWREDA identified that youth want to be listened to andthey feel their voices are not heard. We are taking youth involvement to the next level throughour Youth Engagement Project (YEP ). ThroughYEP , youth from the region will be empoweredto help create solutions to the challenges and opportunities they identify. This project isdesigned to amplify their voice and ensure their ideas are developed, articulated, presentedand pursued.

We recently gained access to funding that will enable us to offer youth leadership trainingusing the world renowned Pacific Institute PX2 Curriculum. The training program is designedexclusively for young people teaching them how their mind works, how to set positive andaggressive (yet obtainable) goals for their future and also how to build the confidence andefficacy to effect positive change in their communities, organizations and environments .

I am looking for your assistance in recruiting students ages 16 to 18 to participate in the twoday training on February 9 and 10. The Chinook School Division is aware of and supports theinitiative. A central location will be chosen based upon registrations.

The training is valued at $325 but thanks to government assistance we are able to offer thetraining for $195. We are seeking financial support from businesses and organizations tosubsidize that cost further and reduced the students cost to participate to $50.

Following the training we will encourage the creation of a youth network designed by theyouth. It is our hope that through the network opportunities will be identified to engage youthin social and economic development in the southwest and by working together and providinginput into real solutions to strengthen the youths sense of ownership for the region.

Hello, my name is Elizabeth Huber. I am currently working as the Resource Coordinator withthe Southwest Enterprise Region (SWER). We are a non-profit economic developmentorganization.

There are a variety of ways you may have received this information package, but chancesare it was because someone heard about the Leadership Training Opportunity we areproviding and thought you were the ideal candidate.

Just recently I have been given the opportunity to create a youth network called YEP withstudents from throughout the entire Southwest region. Why, so that the ideas and concernsof you, our youth, are heard, listened to and then we will work together to put them intoaction. We want you to become an active participant in the social and economicdevelopment of the Southwest.

But first, we need to make sure we have the tools to ensure the youth network is successful.So we are offering you an opportunity to participate in the World Renowned Pacific InstitutePx2 Leadership Training, The training is designed to teach you how your mind works, how toset goals and how to begin to effect positive change in your communities, organizations andenvironments wherever they may be.

If you sign up for the PX2 training you are not required, but encouraged, to become part ofYEP. Most importantly you will discover you are building skills that you will carry youthroughout your life.

The location of the two day PX2 training will be determined based upon participantregistration. Every attempt will be made to ensure it is the most central location foreveryone. The day begins at 9:30 a.m. and will finish by 5:30 p.m. on February 9th and 10th.

The training is valued at $325 but thanks to government assistance and business support weare able to reduce fees to $50. Lunch and snacks will be provided.
