It's a great pleasure to welcome you to Sligo's Yeats Daycelebrations in Yeats2015, this special 150th birthday celebrationof WB Yeats. The poet called Sligo his 'spiritual home' and weare proud to present a four-day festival of poetry, music, drama, architecture, art, film and fun to honour his contributionto our lives. We also celebrate the artistic contributions of hissiblings, Susan, Elizabeth and Jack.

This festival is a collaboration of local, national and internationalvoices; gathering together to honour the Yeats family andcelebrate their inspirational influence across the world. And theworld is joining in this year; over 20 countries are hostingbirthday celebrations for the Nobel prize winner.

Sligo carries Yeats in its heart; what better opportunity couldthere be to reconnect with the voice of one of our greatestwriters and poets and, through this, to celebrate our culturalinfluence on the world stage.

I want to thank the many people who have worked so hard tomake this festival happen and a very special thanks to the YeatsDay committee.
