YEARBOOK 2011

INTRODUCTIONAcross a wide range of activities, the efforts and outcomes of students and staff have been recognised locally and nationally by numerous awards. The 2011 Yearbook offers an insight into, and examples of, some of those achievements. It’s only a snapshot. It’s not one that does sufficient justice to the hard work that leads to the success of the people served by the College – its students, employer clients and local communities. The same is true for the committed staff who teach and support the people we serve.

We hope you enjoy leafing through our Yearbook and hope that these few pictures really are worth thousands of words.

STRICTLY HAIR & BEAUTYHairdressing and Beauty Therapy trainees sharpened their scissors, brushed up their techniques and got down to some serious competition as they styled their way to a much-coveted Gold place at Aberdeen’s Beach Ballroom in November.

It may have been cold outside but for those competing in Aberdeen College’s North East Hair and Beauty Festival, the heat was on and the atmosphere electric as over 400 students, pupils and professional hairdressers took part in competitions ranging from Fantasy Make-up and Ladies Commercial Cut & Blow Dry through to Manicure and Cover Girl Make-up.

It’s a nail-biting day for the competitors, but a fascinating day for spectators who can sit back and watch as models are transformed before their very eyes.

Aberdeen College did very well this year winning five Gold, two silver and three bronze medals with Lauren Sutton winning North East Trainee Make-Up Artist of the Year and Lisa Cowieson being crowned Skills Scotland Trainee Beauty Therapist of the Year.
