ABC order Write your word list in alphabetical order three times.

Acrostic Write your words vertically; then write adjectives for each letter in the word. Complete for all words.

Magazine Pictures Cut out pictures to illustrate at least 10 of your spelling words. Glue them into your homework book.

Pyramids Make word pyramids for each of your words.

Definitions Write definitions for each word. Use the dictionary or write your definition of the word.

Synonyms and Antonyms Write your words and then write both of the above for each word.

Rainbow Words Write each letter of the word in a different color.

Sentences Write one sentence for every word on the list. Be sure to underline the words and spell them correctly.

Thinking Map Use a Thinking Map to show all of the words related to one of your spelling words (circle map or bubble map). Complete for ten words.

Cursive Write each of your words in

your best cursive writing three times each.

Secret Agent Words Number the alphabet from 1 to

26, and then convert your words to a number code.

Poem Write a poem with your words. Be sure to underline the words

and spell them correctly.

ZYX Write your word list in reverse alphabetical order three times.

Word Search Create a word search in a grid,

using all your spelling words. You may also use words from

previous lists.

Comic Strip Create a comic strip with pictures and your spelling

words. The story should make sense, and the spelling words

should be underlined. You must include at least 10 words

Illustrations Draw a picture that shows the meaning of ten words. Be sure

to write the word with the picture. Draw a separate

picture for each of the ten words.

Newspaper Activity Clip a newspaper article or articles that contain at least ten spelling words.

Short Story Write a short story using your

words. Be sure to underline the words and spell them

correctly

Letter changing Create new words by changing one letter of your list words

Word families Write a list of words which

belong to the same family as 3 of your list words.

Word History Investigate the etymology of 5 words. What language are they

based on? Where did they come from?
