Year 1 Phonics Test (2017) Year 1 phonics test results 85% of children achieving the pass rate compared to 81%

nationally in 2016. The average successful reading score was 37 out of 40 words. This is

consistent with last year’s average score.

Year 2 Phonics Test (2017) At the end of Year 2 80% of the cohort (4/5 children) have passed the phonics test

against a national figure (2016) of 91%.
