Partitioning 2 digit numbers
Partitioning is the process of breaking numbers into parts.
Eg. 56 can be broken into 50+6, 40+16, 30+26, 20+36 etc
Write these numbers down and partition them in 4 different ways 38, 67, 73, 59

SCIENCE:
This unit is about materials, their properties and their application in our lives.
Do some hardness, strength and water resistance tests on some materials.
1. Choose some materials from around the house (eg. alfoil, cardboard, wood, metal).
2. For hardness drop the same rock (safely) on to each and record the effect.
3. For strength, grab each end and pull – record results.
4. For water resistance, put in water – record results.
*Make sure you do the same thing to each material for accurate test.*

Tuesday READING - Read a book or chapter. Make a judgement (or inference) about one character - are they happy, sad, frustrated? What were the clues in the text or image?
WRITING - Read ‘Dinosaur Swamp Stomp’ Sheet 2. Clap the syllables for each line and record in the box. What do you notice about the syllables? Is there a pattern? Underline/highlight the rhyming words.
Try to write a new verse for this poem, using the same number of syllables and making the same lines rhyme.

Lesson 7
Using the 2’s, 5’s and 10’s Counting sequence
Go to your toy cupboard or pantry and find a collection of something (Blocks, pasta, etc) – Practise your counting – divide these objects first into 2’s and count the total. Then try 5’s and 10’s. If you’re really good at these, give 3’s a try.

Wednesday READING - Read ‘Dinosaur Swamp Romp’ as if you were performing it for an audience. Practise it over and over, then perform it for a family member, pet or toy using expression and hand gestures.
WRITING - Read the poem ‘Row, Row, Row Your Boat’ (Sheet 3) and compare it to the modified poem. What is the same? What is different? Write your own version of this poem.
