To / in a town or city we use à

Exemples: à Paris - to/in Paris

à Merthyr - to/ in Merthyr

à Cardiff - to/in Cardiff

à Londres - to/in London

To/ in a country we use: en before a feminine singular country.

au before a masculine singular

country

aux before a plural.

Exemples: en France - to/in France (f)

en Italie - to/in Italy (f)

au Canada - to/in Canada (m)

aux Pays Bas - to/in the Netherlands (pl)

* A good rule to remember is that most countries in French

are feminine – but learn the common exceptions!!

Moi, je m’appelle Marc et j’habite à Dakar, la capitale du Sénégal. En ville on peut visiter le Musée d’art africain ou aller au marché acheter des fleurs, des fruits et des légumes. La nourriture traditionnelle sénégalaise est composée de poissons et de fruits de mer et c’est délicieux. Il y a beaucoup de plages ou on peut aller à la pêche, bronzer ou faire de la planche à voile. Pour se déplacer en ville il y a des bus fréquents, ou on peut louer un vélo.

Salut! Je m’appelle Éric. Je vais depuis quatre ans chaque été en Allemagne avec ma famille. On loge toujours chez ma tante qui habite dans un petit village. Normalement, on y va en voiture mais cette année, on va prendre l’avion car c’est plus rapide. J’aime bien passer du temps là-bas parce que c’est tranquille, mais c’est un peu ennuyeux, surtout le soir. Pour mes vacances de rêve je voudrais aller en Australie. Je voudrais voir des animaux sauvages et j’aimerais y aller avec mes copains – c’est plus amusant.
