DRINKING WATER

% OF WATER IN WORLD.

A wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) or wastewater treatment works is an industrial structure designed to remove biological or chemical waste products from water , thereby permitting the treated water to be used for other purposes.

CHEMICAL METHODS

FILTRATION

Filtration provides the additional opportunity for separation of small dirty particles. Some home water filtration systems can remove chemical contaminants for example, but fail to effectively remove microbiological ones (bacteria) from your water supply. Therefore, these are not "purifiers" in the true sense of the word.

ChlorinationThe leading advantage of chlorination that it has

proven effective against bacteria and virus ; it cannot inactivate all microbes like protozoa. When the

microbes is exposed by the chlorine , it inactivate the microbes by damaging the cell and enters and damage

the microbes.

Many households use boiling as the method for obtaining safe drinking water. Boiling kills the germs present in the water. Boiling is a physical method of purification of water.

Steps to save waterAvoid wastage of water.

Do not keep the water running

Plant more trees.

Grow plant which require less water.

Reduce water pollution.

Build more dams…. This will prevent both drought and floods.

Harvest rain water.
