• Each congregant in good financial

standing* will be mailed a ticket for this year’s services. Tickets are for adult congregants - children and students in college age may accompany their parents without a ticket.

• All guests of synagogue members,

including local family members can purchase a ticket for $360.

• Tickets for our congregants’ out-of-

town family members, who are unaffiliated, may be purchased for $100 per ticket. Local family members are not eligible for tickets at this price.

• Tickets for non-members that live in

our community are available at a cost of $360 per ticket. These community guest tickets will provide access to participate in all Yamim Noraim services.

• Reciprocal tickets at no cost may be

obtained by guests who are members of an out-of-town synagogue where tickets are included in their membership dues and by providing Beth Meyer with a letter of good financial standing from their home synagogue. Our reciprocal policy cannot be extended to members of other local synagogues/temples.

• Full-time college students and active military personnel, with current IDs, do not need tickets.

There are a limited number of reserved seats and parking spots made available for purchase during the Yamim Noraim (High Holy Days). If you are a member in good financial standing and are paying full dues, you have the opportunity to reserve the following:

• A seat in the sanctuary for a contribution of $150.

• A seat in the sanctuary annex for a contribution of $100.

• A seat in the social hall for a contribution of $100.

• A reserved parking space for a contribution of $150. When purchasing a reserved seat, please ensure that the person occupying the reserved seat also has a ticket to attend services. Reserved seats are not in lieu of a ticket, but an additional cost. Parking spaces will be limited to two spaces per member family. Although we try our best, we are unable to guarantee exact seat location or fulfill special requests.

Extra handicapped parking spaces will be added and designated for handicapped parking, ensuring that those congregants who need closer access to the building will have it. The handicapped spaces are available to everyone with a State-issued permit and cannot be reserved. Please use the form on page 7 of this booklet or pick up a form from the synagogue office if you wish to participate. In order to be fair, we must honor requests on a first-come, first-served basis. The deadline for submission is Wednesday, August 21 or when space is no longer available.

5780 (2019) Yamim Noraim Reserved Seating and Parking

PARKING Parking will be available in our three lots; however, portions of the lots have been designated as part of our Reserved Parking program. Our field near Newton Road will be marked for parking (weather permitting) and our neighbors at Christ Baptist Church, 400 Newton Road, will once again allow us to use their parking lot for our services. NOTE: We will have limited spots available to us on Tuesday morning, October 1 (2nd day of Rosh Hashanah) and Wednesday morning, October 9 (Yom Kippur). If all lots are full, it may be necessary to park on the neighborhood streets. There is convenient parking on the following streets: Van Thomas Drive, Willow Run Drive South, Newton Way and Sandy Creek Drive. And, we need to remind everyone that there is no parking in the circle in front of the synagogue or on the sides of our driveway as you enter the synagogue property. These areas must remain clear. We encourage everyone to carpool.

Shaking the LULAV and ETROG—Monday & Tuesday, October 14 & 15 during the 9:30 a.m. Sukkot Services On Sukkot, all of us have the opportunity to both live inside a mitzvah---the sukkah---and to hold a mitzvah---the lulav and etrog. Once again, Beth Meyer will provide the opportunity for congregants to purchase lulav & etrog sets. At Sukkot morning services, we will have the chance to raise the lulav and etrog and shake them in the six directions of the world, a powerful and spiritually-fulfilling practice. Even if you will not be able to attend Sukkot services, you are still encouraged to purchase a set so that you can wave them while at your home. If you would like to order a set for your family, please indicate so on the form on page 13 and return it to Beth Meyer by Wednesday, August 21. Sets cost $60 each. EREV SIMHAT TORAH Honoring Our Keter Torah (Crown of the Torah) Honorees

Monday, October 21, 2019 For hundreds of years, the privilege of chanting the final reading from Deuteronomy and the first lines of Genesis on Simhat Torah was the greatest honor a congregation could grant a member. These two honors were given to individuals who provided outstanding service to the community over the course of the previous year. This year, on Simhat Torah, Beth Meyer will honor Ellen Adelman & Steve Katz for the wonderful gifts they have contributed to our congregation and the community-at-large. It is customary to give tzedakah in honor of the Keter Torah Honorees, and so we encourage all to make donations in the amount of $18 using the form on page 13.

The names of those who honored Ellen & Steve will be printed in our annual Honors for the Yamim Noraim Booklet. Please record your donation on the form on page 13. We regret that donations received after Wednesday, August 21 may not be listed in the booklet.

Book of Remembrance (Wednesday, August 21 deadline)

Once again, we approach the season of remembering. Although nothing can replace a memory fixed within a broken or mended heart, historians have had great success in reconstructing genealogies by simple means of Yizkor Bicher (memorial books). These books preserve, in a tangible and widely-distributed form, the web of connections between people whose names and acquaintances might otherwise be lost to the tide of history. We at Beth Meyer Synagogue are preparing to publish the Book of Remembrance to be held and cherished by all who worship at the Yom Kippur Yizkor service, and again throughout the year at Shmini Atzeret, Pesah and Shavuot. This book reverently keeps before us the names of our departed loved ones and is a symbol of our love. Should you have loved ones you wish to memorialize, kindly complete the form on page 13. Please include $5.00 per name of each loved one you wish to remember. The names memorialized on the plaques in the Beth Meyer sanctuary will automatically be included in the Book of Remembrance; names received after Wednesday, August 21 may not be included.

Please use the form on page 13 if you wish to sponsor the flowers on Rosh Hashanah or Yom Kippur and to place an Honorable “Mensch”-en. ** We regret that donations received after Wednesday, August 21 may not be listed in the booklet.**
