Yamaha Majesty Power Outlet Install

Step 1) Purchase Power Outlet.

I went to Radio Shack and purchased this Enercell™ 12VDC Vehicle Power Accessory Outlet for

$6.99

Step 2) Choosing Location.

I choose a location for the outlet to go. I chose the spot underneath the ignition switch.

Step 3) Drilling Hole.

I drilled my hole in the location I choose for the outlet with a 1” drill bit. I had to use a utility knife to cut

around the hole to create the notches for the outlet that keeps it from turning.

Step 4) Accessing Power Outlet.

Next I will need to run the wiring. I am going to run the wiring from behind the windshield where the

wiring harnesses for the lights are located down to the power outlet. To get access to the area behind

the hole for the power outlet you must first remove the screw in the far back of the glove compartment,

so you can then pull the access panel to get to that area.

Step 5) Getting Access to Wiring Harness.

Now that we have access to this area, we need to get access to the area behind the windshield. I found

it easier to connect the wiring to the harness behind the windshield first and then run the wiring from

the top in to the area you see in the picture below. Continue to step 6 to see how this is done.

Step 6) Removing the Windshield Panel Cover.

First we need to remove the two screws located under the windshield panel cover. Next using a screw

driver, starting from the top of the panel cover gently pry the panel off. The panel has snap-ons that

holds the panel in place.

Step 7) Removing the Windshield.

With the panel cover removed, you now have access to the six screws that hold the Windshield in place.

Remove the six screws and then you can remove the windshield.

Below is a side view of three of the screw loosened and ready for removal.

Step 8) Removing the Wiring Harness Cover.

This cover is just sitting in some grooves. If you pull down on it, it will slide out thus revealing the wiring

harness.

Step 9) Prepping the wires for installation.

To make sure I had no problems later with the wiring shorting out from rubbing on something or getting

pinched. I decided to wrap the wires with some shielding. Making sure to leave the fuse still exposed

incase I ever needed to replace it.

Step 10) Connecting Wires to Wiring Harness.

The next step was to find the wire that worked with the ignition switch. I wanted the power outlet to

turn off when the ignition was turned off. I found the second connector had a red wire that did just that.

I found this wire by taking a meter and touching the black wire to the ground and the red wire to the

connector. Once the meter lit-up when the switch was turned on I knew I found the right wire. I could

have just as easily done this with a hot wire, if I wanted the power outlet to work even when the switch

was turned off.

Below you see where I used the blue connector that came with the power outlet to attach the red wire

to the wire I found to use. I then connected the black wire to a grounded screw on the Scooter frame.

Step 11) Running Wiring down to Power Outlet.

As you can see in the picture below, I ran my new wiring around the top of the wiring harness to the left

side of the scooter and down to where the power outlet is located.

Step 12) Connecting Wire to Power Outlet.

This picture doesn’t show where the wire came down from the windshield area, so I am using an arrow

to show where the wire will actually come down. Then I connected the wires to the power outlet as they

were connected when I opened the package.

Step 13) Setting Power Outlet.

Push the power outlet into the hole making sure you align the notch with the one you notched out in

the hole.

Step 14) Replace Glove Box Access Panel.

Put the glove box access panel back in place and tighten down with the screw in the back. See step 4 for

picture of access panel.

Step 15) Replace Windshield.

Starting with step 8, reverse the order of steps 8 - 6 to put the windshield back on.
