Christmas is a time of holidays and full of celebrations and traditions such us, the Nativity Scene, the Christmas tree, we also celebrate Christmas Eve, Sant Esteve day, the 31st of December, the 5th of January, the 6th of January.

CHRISTMAS

On the 25th of December, I had a family lunch. The tradition is to eat chicken soup and Spanish nougat. Another tradition is the “caga tió”, It is a special trunk that brings gifts to children.

SANT ESTEVE

This day my family and I have a special lunch, the tradition consists of eating cannelloni.

31st of DECEMBER (cap d’any)

It is last day of the year. In Catalonia exists a special tradition, we eat a special cake, it’s called: The Saint Sylvester Trunk.

On the 31st, we have a family dinner to dismiss the year, and receive the new one. At 12 p.m., we celebrate the “campanadas”,we eat 12 grapes one for every stroke.

5th of JANUARY

At night there is the Twelfth Night procession (Melchor, Gaspar and Baltasar). In the houses there are lots of presents. Families meet.

6th of JANUARYThis is Epiphany day. We are with our families again and in our houses there are lots of presents. For lunch, we have a ring-shaped Epiphany cake.
