Use Xeriscape Principles as a comprehensive approach for landscaping toconserve water, time and money. Xeriscape landscapes are not limited tocactus and rocks. Apply the seven principles of Xeriscape gardening todesign a beautiful yard consisting of many color and plant varieties.

1) Planning and Design: A water efficient landscape starts with a well-thought out design. Consider your landscape budget, function, appearance, maintenance and water use.2) Soil Analysis: An analysis will determine the water absorption rate and water holding capacity of your soil.3) Practical Use of Turf or Grass: Your lawn area is the most demanding part of your landscape, because it requires the most maintenance and water. Plant turf in functional areas.4) Careful Plant Selection: Consider the temperature, sunlight, and water requirements, and growth characteristics of the plants you wish to use. Place plants in groups requiring the same water needs. 5) Effective Use of Irrigation: Use appropriate irrigation to meet the water requirements of your plant groupings.6) Consistent Use of Mulch: Use mulch to maintain soil moisture and control erosion.7) Landscape Maintenance: Consider and know the appropriate maintenance and care for the plants within your landscape.
