1. Introduction The Retail Data Storage unit allows you to obtain diagnosis updates and control unit software such as Regio DVDs and

Digital Operator's Manuals (DiBA) directly online. The data are transferred by the Retail Data Storage directly to the

XENTRY Kit | Kit 2 through your network connection.

The prerequisite for this is pairing of the

XENTRY Kit | Kit 2 to the Retail Data Storage

(chapter 2).

The prerequisite for this is adjusting the

configuration of the Retail Data Storage

(chapter 3).



2. Configuring the XENTRY Kit | Kit 2

to download control unit software The Retail Data Storage available at your workshop enables you to retrieve control unit software such as Regio DVDs and

Digital Operator's Manuals (DiBA) online and to transfer these via your XENTRY Kit | Kit 2 system to the control unit in a

vehicle.

Please note the following requirements:

A Retail Data Storage must be available at your workshop.

Have your IT administrator provide you with the IP address of your Retail Data Storage.

To pair your XENTRY Kit | Kit 2 to the Retail Data Storage, proceed as follows.

1. Launch XENTRY Control via the shortcut on the desktop of your XENTRY Tab:

2. You will see the following home screen.

Please make sure that no connection between XENTRY Tab and XENTRY Connect is established.

Select the menu item "Configuration".



3. In the window that now opens, click on "Expert configuration".

4. Confirm the note that appears by clicking on "Continue".



5. Select the tab "XENTRY Tab / standard PC".

6. And in the next window, click on the tab "XENTRY Update Service".



8. Select "With Retail Data Storage" as the update mode and then enter the IP address of your Retail Data

Storage in the text field. You can obtain this IP address from your IT administrator.

Then select the button "Check connection".

9. If the check is successful, the connection is confirmed with a green check mark.

Now select the button "Apply configuration to XENTRY Tab/standard PC".



10. Confirm the information window that then appears by clicking on "Continue".

11. Finish the configuration process by clicking on "Finished".



3. Downloading diagnosis updates

1. Configuring the Retail Data Storage

Please note:

At the current time, only release updates for the XENTRY Diagnosis Kit 3 are downloaded by the Retail Data

Storage. The Retail Data Storage must be re-configured to download release updates for XENTRY Kit | Kit 2

systems.

To adjust the configuration of the Retail Data Storage, access your Retail Data Storage unit through your network either by

entering the IP address of the Retail Data Storage in the address bar of the browser on your XENTRY Kit | Kit 2 or

standard PC or by starting the XENTRY Update Service Control Center through your XENTRY Diagnosis Kit 3.

Navigate to the "Settings" menu item.



You may be asked to enter the password for your Retail Data Storage, enter it and then click on "Log in". The password

will have been assigned by your IT administrator, ask them for the password if necessary.

The "Configuration" window opens. Now check the box next to "XENTRY Kit | Kit 2 | XENTRY Connect" and then click on

"Save".

Please note: The downloading of release updates will start at the download times specified by your IT admin. These can

be changed in the "Download time configuration" menu item. The download can take up to several days depending on the

speed of your Internet connection.



2. Preparing the USB flash drive

You will need an empty USB flash drive to transfer the downloaded release update to your XENTRY Kit | Kit 2. It must have

a storage capacity of at least 64 GB.

Please plug the USB flash drive into the XENTRY Tab | Tab 2 / standard PC and wait a moment until it is detected by the

system.

Now open Windows Explorer, right-click on the data storage medium and select the "Format" item.

This opens the following window:

For the file system and size of the allocation units, the default values are recommended.

Please note:

The USB update function only supports NTFS as the file system. – The file systems of FAT, FAT32, and exFAT cannot be

used.

Assign a designation to the USB flash drive and check the selection box for quick formatting. Clicking the "Start" button

will format your USB data storage medium. You might have to confirm a dialog notifying you that all data will be deleted

during formatting of the data storage medium.



3. Downloading the release update to a USB flash drive

Navigate to the menu item "Overview of available releases". Here you can see which release updates are available. The

platform for which the respective release is available is also displayed. The "Status" column indicates whether the release

has already been fully downloaded to the Retail Data Storage; wait for the download to complete if necessary.

To download the desired release for your XENTRY Kit | Kit 2, click on ".ZIP" in the "Download release file" column in the

respective row.



An information window opens. Select "Save" here. The ".META" file does not have to be downloaded.

After successfully downloading the file, unpack the ZIP directory. Then copy all of the unpacked files to your USB flash

drive.

Please note: All files and directories must be located directly on the top level of the USB flash drive and may not be stored

in a sub-directory.



4. Installing the release update on the XENTRY Connect

Please note: The XENTRY Connect must be in standby mode to install the release update. You can shut down the XENTRY

Connect directly on the device via the menu (gearwheels button) or from the XENTRY Control session.

Connect the power supply unit to the XENTRY Connect and insert the USB data storage medium into a free USB port of

the XENTRY Connect.

Now start the update mode of the XENTRY Connect by simultaneously pressing the two "red cross" and "green tick"

buttons.

Once "Start update" appears on the display, confirm this with the green tick. The update procedure starts. This will be

indicated as follows on the XENTRY Connect display:

The USB update takes about 100 minutes. The XENTRY Connect indicates when the update is finished on the display.

You can complete the process by pressing the "gearwheels" button. Or, wait until the XENTRY Connect automatically

shuts down (approx. 10 minutes after the picture appears on the display).



5. Installing the release update on the XENTRY Tab | Tab 2 /

standard PC

Now insert the USB flash drive into a free USB port of your XENTRY Tab | Tab 2 / standard PC.

Run the "start.exe" file. The Update Wizard starts.

After the update procedure is completed successfully, you can exit the Wizard and your device is ready for use.

You have now updated your XENTRY Kit | Kit 2 / standard PC.
