Online LIMSWhat is Online LIMS ?

•A ready to go, “off the shelf” system .

•A very fast, efficient and easy to use LIMS.

•Developed using “state of the art” technology

Who is Online LIMS ?Online LIMS started as a UNIX based LIMS at the end of the 80's. The team is composed of experienced chemists, hardware and software engineers and IS support personnel.

"We are specialized in the mining and commercial laboratories supporting Geochemical, Mineralogy and Environmental labs"

Page 4: 2 INDEX Introduction –LIMS Benefits –System architecture –LIMS Modules LIMS Presentation A guide through LIMS based on a lab workflow:

Features and Benefits

Very fast report access & queries

On-line, work group based, Excel like spreadsheet files

Automatic calculation and storage with significant figures

Simple to use Excel-like formulas

Color coded “real time” work status

Integrated with advanced QA/QC system

Simple to use and easy to learn: “Standard Windows look and feel”

Audit trail logs and data validation

Page 5: 2 INDEX Introduction –LIMS Benefits –System architecture –LIMS Modules LIMS Presentation A guide through LIMS based on a lab workflow:

LIMS ModulesOnline LIMS is structured in modules (Applications). Each module represents one of the major activities in the lab. This simplifies the use and learning of the LIMS. A technician does not necessary need to learn about administrative modules.

1. OnSETUP – Static data management and configuration

2. OnREPO – Login, Reporting, Statistics and Management

3. OnWSH – Instruments and worksheets

4. OnLQC – Interactive QA/QC

5. OnSAMPLE – Sample management system

6. iOnView – Internet LIMS browser

Online LIMS provides color coded information:

•RED for pending work•GREEN for completed work•BLUE for invoiced work

Each of those colors is highlighted (bright color) when a report is locked or approved.

Sample loginThe report has a special sample editor that can easily copy incremental

sample id’s. This unique feature saves time. Many customizable pick lists

are available for fast data entry.

Samples can be logged in many ways:•By predefined report templates•By automated job creation (option)•By client tools (OnSAMPLE)•Data logger

Page 11: 2 INDEX Introduction –LIMS Benefits –System architecture –LIMS Modules LIMS Presentation A guide through LIMS based on a lab workflow:

Sample Tracking

Samples can be easily tracked through the system. Each time the bar code label is scanned, or the sample is handled, the LIMS tracks the position

and chain of custody.

Sample Storage

The Online LIMS instrument interface is much more than a simple link between the database and instruments. It provides an analytical

instrument environment which allows the analyst to structure customized worksheets at the bench. The same worksheet accepts multiple

instrument links for direct on-line reading.

Online LIMS Quality Management

The LIMS QA/QC module plots a Shewhart Control Chart with control values by report and provides the analyst with the data required to make informed

decisions. This module provides “real time” QC data by automatically extracting the QC samples from the reports and updating the QC database

Page 22: 2 INDEX Introduction –LIMS Benefits –System architecture –LIMS Modules LIMS Presentation A guide through LIMS based on a lab workflow:

OnLQC (Online LIMS Quality Control) is an interactive statistical module. The two graphic cursors allow the user to select any outlier(s) for special

statistic analysis. Each data point can be hidden or unhidden.

Interactive QC Chart

Page 23: 2 INDEX Introduction –LIMS Benefits –System architecture –LIMS Modules LIMS Presentation A guide through LIMS based on a lab workflow:

The distribution curve graphically displays standard data and lists the range, average, standard deviation, and number of QC data points collected for the control. All QA/QC libraries can be exported to EXCEL for further analysis and reporting.

Online LIMS includes an intelligent report-printing utility that allows the user to define a customizable report format. A variety of options can be selected to determine the size of the print, the orientation of the printing, the number of copies, and so on.

The intelligent report print module will generate the best print format for you. Landscape, portrait character size, split lines, etc., every setting is done for you. Even avoid printing only one line on the last page ! Of course, you do the final touches ...

Online LIMS ManagementOnline LIMS arranges samples by Reports (jobs). This is a query concept that makes the searching for data very fast.

Reports can be listed by customer, project, work status (i.e. pending work) or any other desired grouping.

The report browser is Online LIMS’s main menu, all jobs are run from here.
