Hours of Service (HOS)

‘Hours of Service’ are regulations governing the working hours of most commercial drivers in the US or Canada• HOS limits the number of daily and weekly hours spent driving

and working, and regulate the minimum amount of time drivers must spend resting in-between

• Drivers are required to keep records of driving and working hours using a paper or electronic logbook

• Main purpose of the HOS regulations is to prevent accidents caused by driver fatigue

• Typically apply to interstate, intrastate and inter-province movement of commercial goods

• Rules vary by country, state/province and industry; there are daily and weekly limits

Installation Requirements

To install the HOS solution, customers need:

• MGS100, MGS200 or MGS500 Fleet Tracker• J1708 or J1939 “JBOX”, connected between the fleet tracker

and the vehicle’s ECM (Electronic Control Module)• Android-based tablet for the driver’s interface• HOS application installed on the tablet • Existing AT&T or TELUS account with the MGS500

configured with an optional Hot SpotOR

• An additional AT&T or TELUS data plan with the Android device equipped with a SIM card and the MGS100/MGS200
