THE 2019 GRADUATE SCHOOL FELLOWSHIP RECIPIENTS
The Graduate School Assembly of Fellows
Reception and Award Ceremony is held
each September to honor the graduate
students who have received fellowships for
that academic year. The fellowships
recognized are The Delyte and Dorothy
Morris Fellowship, Doctoral Fellowship,
Master’s Fellowship, Graduate Dean’s
Fellowship, PROMPT Assistantship, and
Dissertation Research Assistantship Award
(DRA). Also recognized are the recipients of
the Diversifying Higher Education Faculty in
Illinois Program (DFI). There are 66 fellowship
recipients this year: 2 DFI, 31
DRA, 15 Doctoral, 12 Master’s, 3
Morris, and 3 Graduate Dean’s.

RESEARCH PAPER, THESIS, AND DISSERTATION
INFORMATION SESSIONS
Everyone is welcome to attend the information sessions hosted by Dr. Rose
Moroz, Assistant Dean of the Graduate School. They will be held on
October 2 and 3 (at SSB 150/160).
Final paper formatting and submission guidelines will be explained. Students
find these sessions helpful, no matter where they are in the writing process.
For those who can’t attend, video and powerpoint slides from the sessions
will be available on the Graduate School website.

GRADUATE SCHOOL FUNDING WORKSHOP
Crystal Harris in the Assistantship/Fellowship office
will host a funding workshop on Wednesday,
October 9.
During the workshop, Crystal will go over funding
opportunities that are offered through the
Graduate School.
Make sure that your Radius views are updated to show 2020.
Slate training should be coming in October. Departments will be
contacted once signups are available.
SIUC-SIUE COOPERATIVE PH.D. PROGRAMS FORUM
On Friday, September 20, eleven SIU Edwardsville
faculty and staff came to SIU Carbondale and
joined eighteen of their SIU Carbondale
colleagues to network and discuss the four
Cooperative Ph.D. programs that are currently
being offered. Faculty from History, Engineering,
Computer Science, and Environmental Resources
& Policy reviewed program goals and discussed
strategies for improving communication.
Simultaneously, administrative staff from
both campuses finalized a procedural
manual and problem-solved for greater
administrative efficiency.

There was a good turnout for the Graduate School DoGS workshops held on September 18 and

NOTE: Graduate students are also welcome to participate. 10 to 15 seats will be reserved for
graduate students. More seats could be available for graduate students when a final number of
registered faculty and staff is tallied.

S-STEM Workshops 2019
How To Prepare NSF S-STEM Proposals
The STEM Education Research Center (SERC) is offering a series of workshops on “How to Prepare NSF S-STEM Proposals”. This series of workshops focuses on NSF grant funding and how to navigate through the online process from start to finish, and offers guidelines on proposal preparation starting from a general overview, then narrowing to specific topic elucidations of what NSF emphasizes for S-STEM grant awarding. The anticipated goal of the workshop series is for all participants to have a completed and competitive NSF S-STEM proposal that will be submitted for funding.
