National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)Since its inception in 1958, NASA has accomplished many great scientific and technological feats in air and space. NASA technology also has been adapted for many nonaerospace uses by the private sector. NASA remains a leading force in scientific research and in stimulating public interest in aerospace exploration, as well as science and technology in general. Perhaps more importantly, our exploration of space has taught us to view Earth, ourselves, and the universe in a new way. While the tremendous technical and scientific accomplishments of NASA demonstrate vividly that humans can achieve previously inconceivable feats, we also are humbled by the realization that Earth is just a tiny "blue marble" in the cosmos.

NASA Undergraduate Student Research Program: The National Aeronautics and Space Administration is seeking undergraduate students from diverse communities across the United States interested in unique hands-on experiences with NASA scientists and engineers. USRP internships are available year-round at all NASA facilities. Selected students receive a stipend and round-trip travel allowance. Students may apply for 15 week spring session, 10-week summer session, or 15-week fall session.

National Space Biomedical Research Institute (NSBRI)Established in 1997 through a NASA competition, the National Space Biomedical Research Institute is working on countermeasures to the health-related problems and physical and psychological challenges men and women will face on long-duration missions. The research consortium's primary objective is to ensure safe and productive human spaceflight. Projects also address key technologies required to enable and enhance exploration. In particular, NSBRI scientists and physicians are developing technologies to provide medical monitoring, diagnosis and treatment in the extreme environments of the moon and Mars.

Summer Biomedical Research Program: NSBRI's summer program provides the opportunity for undergraduate, graduate or medical students from across the country to join ongoing project activities and gain hands-on experience in space biomedical research at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston and NASA Glenn Research Center in Cleveland. Since 1998, 117 students representing over 70 colleges and universities have participated in the 10-15 week program. The program pays interns an hourly wage but does not cover housing or travel.

Sageworks, Inc.Sageworks, the leader in financial analysis of private companies, was founded to increase the rate of business success by giving people information they can understand and use. Sageworks is headquartered in Raleigh, NC and possesses a patented, Web-based technology that rapidly analyzes financial information. The technology uses artificial intelligence to provide interpretation and aggregate financial data in a cooperative data model.  The technology is the only real-time industry data source for private company statistics.  Customers include thousands of financial institutions and accounting firms, including Citibank, Grant Thornton, H&R Block and the Wall Street Journal.

Software Developer: We are hiring computer science graduates to help us develop software.  We are seeking highly motivated and intelligent software developers to help us leverage and build upon our core expert system.  Interested individuals must have an undergraduate GPA of at least 3.7.  Experience in Microsoft technologies is required. .NET experience is a plus.  We seek developers who "code to live and live to code"; they must be passionate about software development. The position will require software development work in a fast-paced, intense environment.  The individuals will primarily work with these technologies: ASP.NET, C#, SQL, VBA, Javascript, HTML, CSS, XML.

Kelly Engineering Resources – Future Engineers ScholarshipApplication Deadline 10/15/09

A college education is a priceless component of an engineer’s life, as the lessons and knowledge that an engineer obtains at college are valuable throughout his or her career. Even though the cost of college is continually increasing, all students should have an opportunity to pursue college degrees. In order to help engineering students achieve their dreams, Kelly Engineering Resources, a specialized business unit of Kelly Services, Inc., established the Future Engineers Scholarship in 2003.

The scholarship program recognizes exceptional sophomore- and junior-level college engineering students throughout the nation. All students who meet the program’s criteria are invited to compete for the scholarship by submitting an essay on a designated, current engineering topic. Candidates will be evaluated on their demonstrated potential for and commitment to engineering careers, outstanding academic performances, and depth of knowledge of issues or challenges addressed in their essays.

In December 2009, the student with the winning essay will receive a $5,000 scholarship that can be used toward expenses for tuition, fees, books, and housing during the 2010 calendar year.

All submission materials and guidelines, as well as the essay topic and question, are available at www.kellyengineering.com/scholarships. Kelly Engineering Resources must receive scholarship applications by October 15, 2009.

About Kelly Engineering Resources - Since 1998, Kelly Engineering Resources has provided staffing and placement services to a broad spectrum of industries, including aerospace, chemical, defense, energy, medical device, nanotechnology, petroleum, pharmaceutical, power, refining, shipbuilding, semiconductor, and telecommunications. Teach For AmericaMath and Science Initiative

Recognizing the urgent need for excellent math and science education in this country, Teach for America launched a campaign in 2004 to bring more outstanding math and science teachers to low-income communities. In the 2009-2010 school year, more than 2,000 corps members are teaching math and science to more than 125,000 students. It is projected that this number will increase to 3,600 by 2015. This initiative begins with focused recruitment and graduating college seniors, graduate students, and professionals with math, science and engineering expertise. In addition to recruiting a growing corps of individuals with strong math, science, and engineering backgrounds, Teach for America gives its math and science teachers the training and support they need to succeed in the classroom. This requires content-specific training at the summer institute and targeted support through the two-year commitment. Apply at www.teachforamerica.org.
