Note for Judges - Outline of Final P resentation Session

Thank you very much for kindly accepting our request to participate in 2011 Social

Business Competition organized by ARUN /ARUN LAB in cooperation with CJCC, as

judges. Please find below the detailed outline of final presentation session of the

competition, scheduled on 25th November morning.

1. Date and Venue

Date: 25th Nov 2011

Time: 09:00-12:30

Venue: Seminar Room # 09, CJCC (Cambodia Japan Cooperation Center), Phnom

Penh http://cjcc.edu.kh/jp.html

2. Concept and How it Works

ARUN, LLC is Japanese social investment fund dedicated to support social enterprises

in Cambodia and promoting a momentum for social investment. The 2011 Business

Idea Competition is organized as part of this mission, in a hope that this will be a

unique opportunity for both Japanese and Cambodian students, and their first step to

career development in social entrepreneurship in Cambodia. The event is organized in

cooperation with CJCC.

For this competition, 18 participating students are divided into 6 groups (3 members

/group), and will compete over their social business ideas and models in front of a

panel of judges. The 1st winning group will be awarded prizes, notably the scholarship

offer at CJCC Entrepreneurship Course next year , and USD100 Amazon Gift Card per

persons. Additionally, they will be asked to make a presentation during the Symposium

on Social Investment, which is also scheduled on 25th November afternoon at CJCC

Angkor-Kizuna Hall.

In prior to the final presentation session, the student will spend two days (22-23rd Nov)

taking tour to visit Cambodian social entrepreneurs in Phnom Penh and Province, as

well as conduct quick market research in order to gather supporting information for

”social problems” and their idea for business solution. Then they will spend a whole

day (24th Nov) working on preparing for final presentation. During the preparation

session, each group will be mentored by one (or two) adviser(s).

1. Innovativeness: uniqueness of idea, originality

2. Excitement: interesting, exciting, imaginative, creative

3. Reality: business model feasibility

4. Measurability: clear objective, quantitative indicator

5. Social Impact: empowerment of local people, resource distribution, degree of

social impact

*10 points for each aspect (total 50 points)
