winning favor or retaining power than about maintaining principles. 3. a person who holds a political office.

What they do.

Politicians run Federal, State, and local governments. They are the Nation's chief executives and legislators. They get their jobs by being elected. They make and pass laws that affect all of us.

There are many jobs that politicians may enter after they leave politics, or even work within before they become a politician. These include:
