Thesuccessful candidate for this position mustbe an experienced, legal services litigatorwith a strong track-record of training,mentoring and supervising juniorattorneys in a dynamic law firmenvironment. The firm’s four Managing Attorneys(Intake/ Brief Services Unit, Housing,Family, Barriers to Employment) all reportdirectly to the LAD. The LAD reportsdirectly to the Executive Director, serveson the Senior Management Team and isactively involved in all aspects of law firm



management including setting caseacceptance priorities, attorney hiring,budgeting, development (including grant-writing) and long-term, strategic planning.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Serves as the firm’s chief lawyer andoversees all of the direct, legal serviceswork of the firm at the trial and appellatelevel, including all affirmative and impactlitigation. NLSP’s service delivery model isanchored in a walk-in/telephone,neighborhood-based intake system thatresults in community members receivingreferrals, legal information, brief servicesand/or extended service representation.Our multiple, intake sites include threelibrary-based clinics and a monthly clinicat the VA Medical Center.

• Identify, shape and guide NLSP’s broad-based, high-impact advocacy efforts.

• Ensure adherence to program and casehandling standards, funder requirementsand the highest, professional standards.

• Collaborate closely with other legalservices providers locally and nationally toidentify opportunities to better serve ourshared, client community and to pursue,shared advocacy goals.

• Establish and implement firm programpolicies relating to legal work.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be an active member of the Districtof Columbia Bar or eligible to immediatelyseek admission.
