Summary

Permanent traffic recorder (PTR) daily travel trend data.

Description

Due to the unprecedented need for near real-time information, WDSOT is providing daily travel trend data from permanent traffic recorders as soon as it is available. However, this allows for the application of only minimal levels of quality assurance, and therefore the data should be used with caution. Additionally, this data feed will be terminated as soon as the current crisis has resolved, and users will be directed to traditional reporting system such as WSDOT’s Traffic Data Geoportal: https://www.wsdot.wa.gov/mapsdata/tools/trafficplanningtrends.htm.

The Regional Trend, PTR Site Trend, and Active Transportation PTR Site Trend tables have been populated with data from 3/1/2020 forward. Each morning at approximately 10:00 AM Pacific, data from the prior day will be added. At the same time, data from the two, three, and four days prior will be refreshed in order to address initial gaps (with the most significant initial data gaps usually occurring on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday).

Additional spatial reference datasets are also provided – PTR Site Location, Active Transportation PTR Site Location, Urbanized Area, WSDOT Region, and State Boundary. The Regional Trend table can be joined to Urbanized Area, WSDOT Region, and State Boundary using the Jurisdiction field. The PTR Site Trend table can be joined to PTR Site Location using the SiteID field. Finally, the Active Transportation PTR Site Trend table can be joined to Active Transportation PTR Site Location using the SiteID and LocationName fields respectively.

Please direct questions about the data to [email protected]. If you are having trouble viewing the service, please contact WSDOT Online Map Support.

Description:

Abstract: Highway Urban Areas, as defined by the Federal Highway Administration, are depicted as polygons.

Purpose: The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) requires a review of highway urban and urbanized areas after each decennial US Census. The Census Bureau determines boundaries for urbanized areas with 50,000 or more people and urban clusters of 2,500 through 49,999 people. Highway urban areas only include those clusters with 5,000 or more people. Highway urbanized and urban areas must include all areas defined as urbanized or urban by the Census bureau with a population over 5,000 but can and usually do include area beyond the Census Bureau defined boundaries. This data set is used for identification of Urban Areas and as a reference layer for geographic information systems at WSDOT.

The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) requires a review of highway urban and urbanized areas after each decennial US Census. A team was assembled to review the highway urban and urbanized boundaries based on the results of Census 2010. This team included members from WSDOT, the County Road Administration Board (CRAB), the Transportation Improvement Board (TIB), and FHWA. The team held workshops around the state in Spring 2013. County, city, metropolitan planning organization (MPO), and WSDOT region staff were invited to these meetings. Reference maps and guidelines were distributed to the appropriate local governments via a website hosted by the WSDOT Transportation Planning Office. During the second quarter of 2013, local agencies submitted maps and other documents to the boundary review team showing how the local agencies wanted the urban and urbanized area boundaries to be adjusted. The MPOs were involved in the review process in urbanized areas. The review team met to review the maps. Those that met the guidelines were approved. Those that did not were sent back to the local agencies with suggested changes. In some cases, the review team met with local agencies to come up with boundaries acceptable to the local agencies and the review team. Starting in July 2013, FHWA gave final approval to the urban and urbanized area boundaries that it found acceptable. Boundaries for the remaining urban and urbanized areas were approved on September 8, 2013. One set of signed maps are on file at the WSDOT GIS Branch in Tumwater. PDF copies of these maps are also available.

Description: Abstract: Washington State boundary. Purpose:

This data set depicts the boundary of the State of Washington. This data set was created by the Washington State Department of Natural Resources to meet that agency's need for land surveying, land title, and land management GIS data. It is part of the Washington State Cadastral Framework Data set.

Page 27: WSDOT Traffic Volume Trend · the average daily traffic volume for the same vehicle types, location, month, and day of week in the prior year. DailyComboTrkVol The total daily combination

The Washington Cadastral Framework data represents an integrated set of geographic-referencing data covering the State of Washington. It is derived from Land Surveys, DNR Orthophotos, USGS 7-1/2 minute quadrangles, DNR Ownership Tract Book, and various public organizations. The initial data population includes Public Land Survey System information, state boundary, county boundaries, and Department of Natural Resource parcel information.

Supplemental Information: (1) The Washington Cadastral Framework data will be built over time. It represents a coordinated effort between federal, state, local, and private organizations to mutually contribute, share, and maintain commonly needed cadastral data within the State of Washington. The data model was developed based on the Cadastral Data Content Standards for the National Spatial Data Infrastructure. Eventually, data population will include the DNR data layers previously called Public Land Survey Points (PLS-PT), Public Land Survey/Ownership/County/Administration (POCA), and Major Public Lands (MPL). Over time, contributing partner organizations will provide further data population and maintenance that will include information on; county parcel boundaries and identifiers, Washington Special Districts, generalized Growth Management areas, city boundaries, ownership, aquatic land parcels, land transactions, land agents, Land Surveys, survey monuments, and geodetic control points. (2) Washington State is divided into two State Plane Zones, north and south. PLS-PT, POCA, and MPL coordinates were in NAD27, Washington State Plane Coordinate System, South Zone. The coordinates were converted to NAD83 HARN, Washington State Plan Coordinate System, South Zone and NAD83 HARN, Geographic Coordinates. (3) The non-DNR public land ownership and publicly administered areas will initially come from the MPL coverage. This information was last updated in 2000, or earlier, dependent upon the individual 1:100,000 quadrangle. This information is currently updated in an ongoing cycle by 1:100,000 quadrangles on approximately a six year rotation per quadrangle. Public land ownership information has been updated from the best available sources. When available, it should be used with a full understanding that it was designed and created for map display and planning purposes only. Extreme care was used during the compilation of this data to ensure accuracy. However, due to changes in ownership and the need to rely on outside sources of information, the Department of Natural Resources cannot accept responsibility for errors or omissions, and therefore there are no warranties which accompany this data set. (4) Metadata contributors were: - Scott Denkers, Data Administrator; Information Technology Division, Washington DNR, Ralph Perry, Cartography Supervisor; Resource Mapping Section, Engineering Division, Washington DNR, Greg Tudor, Information Technology Division, Washington DNR, Dave Steele and Frank Fischer, Land Survey and Land Section, Washington DNR, Resource Planning and Asset Management Division, Washington DNR, Elizabeth Lanzer, Aquatic Resources Division, Washington DNR.
