Alice Orr

Alice Orr left book editing to become a literary agent and was President of Alice Orr Agency, Inc. in New York City for many years. She has edited mystery novels, is past President of the New York Chapter of Mystery Writers of America and past Vice-President of Sisters In Crime Mid-Atlantic Chapter. She taught the first MWA mystery writing course ever given, has lectured on the mystery- suspense genre for twenty-plus years and been published seven times as a romantic suspense novelist. She published No More Rejections: 50 Secrets to Writing A Manuscript That Sells from Writers Digest Books. She conducts seminars and workshops nationally on writing and publishing. She is a part-time resident of New York City where she keeps in touch with the current publishing scene; and spends the remaining time of the year in Seattle, Washington.

Jeffery Deaver

Jeffery Deaver, award winning author, poet, and journalist, began studying law at Chicago’s DePaul University and graduated from Fordham Law School. He worked for several years as an attorney for a large Wall Street firm. During his commute, he began writing the type of fiction he enjoyed reading: suspense novels. Author of twenty-two novels, his works include The Blue Nowhere, Mistress of Justice, A Maiden’s Grave, The Bone Collector, Garden of Beasts, and forthcoming The Sleeping Doll.

F. Robert Stein is of counsel to Pryor Cashman LLP in New York. He represents authors, literary agents, publishers and others in con-tract negotiations and disputes. He also advises film producers and insurers with respect to defamation, invasion of privacy, copyright and other potential problems in film and television projects. He is the author of Book Publishing: Standard ‘Trade Book’ Author/Publisher Agreements, a chapter in Entertainment Law, published by the New York State Bar Association. Previously he has been in-house counsel for Random House, Inc., CBS, Inc., Simon & Schuster, and Warner Communications, where he served as Vice President and General Counsel for Warner Publishing.
