Write4Gold is an annual Graffti Art Competition for the top street and graffiti artists in the world. In 2011 the Battle go for 4 stages. The Pre-Battles, the national Pre-Eliminations, a Online GrafX Sketch Contest and the Grand Final.

Write4Gold just occurred in 32 countries worldwide, within 8 years holding more than 150 events. Crowning the top graffiti artists from all over the globe. Write4Gold 2011 expand with 2 new stages. The Pre-Battles and the Online Sketch Contest. Imagine that! Berlin freshness versus Moscow fire! A crew from London battling a crew from Copenhagen! Riga versus Barcelona! Stockholm in competition with Paris, Melbourne versus Santiago de Chile! Prague taking on Los Angeles! This happen in the near future!

STAGE 1 - PRE-BATTLES - FEBRUARY 2011 – APRIL 2011

In 2011 the tournament proper begins with a first stage of 60 teams, divided into 30 KO battles, the Pre-Eliminaton (February to end of April 2011). Seeding and the online register form is used whilst making the draw for this stage.. Each team meets the others in its home or away in a non-round-robin format. The top teams from each pre-battle progress to Stage 2, the national finals tournament. (Write4Gold Events).

The winner team of each Pre-Battle enters Stage 2, one of the Pre-Eliminations (Write4Gold Events) 2011 April to August 2011) Just to give you an example: The Pre-Battle Bratislava vs Kosice (both from Slovakia). Bratislava wins and enters the east european Pre-Eliminatons Round in Budapest, Hungary (June 2011) If there is no pre-elimination nearby your area you jump directly to Stage 3.

What is required to submit for a Pre-Battle:

1.Register your team/crew/collective online at write4gold.com please provide as much links and photos as possible2.Choose a city to represent at Write4Gold 20113.Choose another team (can be from the same city ) to battle 4.Choose a location (Hall of Fame, legal wallspace)5.Write4Gold supply a Theme/Topic for the Battle6.The Pre-Battles runs in the Category: Concept Painting (no Throw Ups, Tags or Sketching)7.Wallspace required: Length 13m to max 20m, Height: min 2,5m8.You need 2 walls in that size(because 2 teams battling)9.The Battle need to be held on one day, with both teams at the same location 10.Make sure to make photos of the Pre-Battle and the final walls (this need to be sent by email / upload 1 day (24hours) after the battle (20 to 30 photos)11.You host this battle yourself, no one of the Write4Gold team, judge or referee will be there (that´s why its important to photograph the battle as good as possible12.The Pre-Battle can be held on any date between February and end of April 2010

What you receive from Write4Gold:

1.2 x 50 spraycans of Molotow Premium 400ml plus different types of Caps (sent by mail to an adress you has given to us 2 weeks before the pre-battle starts)2.No Awards at Stage 1. The winner team receives an specific amount of cans to support travel expenses to the national event (Stage 2, Pre-Elimination)3.If there is no pre-elimination nearby your area you jump directly to Stage 3. In that way we gonna send a Set of Molotow GrafX Marker Sets by mail (2 weeks before Stage 3 starts) to use for the Online Sketch Competition

STAGE 2 - PRE-ELIMINATIONS - MAY 2011 – SEPTEMBER 2011

Between 2003 and 2009, eight top ranked teams qualified from the national finals directly for the tournament final stage, the Grand Finals. In 2011 the tournament proper begins with a first stage of 60 teams, divided into 30 KO battles (see informations in Stage 1). The top teams from each Pre-Battle progress to Stage 2, the national finals, the Pre-Elimination tournament. The national events in Stage 2 consist of 4 to 8 crews competing and representing their city or area. Three battle categories to compete in this event per crew: ThrowUps, Tagging and the ultimate battle, Concept Painting a burner. Write4Gold provides a theme for each battle.

STAGE 3 – ONLINE SKETCHING CONTEST - SEPTEMBER 2011

The top teams from each pre-battle (Stage 1) progress to Stage 2, the national finals, tournament. The winner team of each national final enters the Stage 3, the Sketching Competition. For this stage the teams battle it out on paper with Molotow GrafX twin markers. (Write4Gold hand out the GrafX Marker Sets to the winners at Stage2 to take home)

What is required at Stage 3:

A)A4 sized sketch (Write4Gold provides the theme with a 1 week timeline)B)The supplied GrafX Twinmarkers have to be used, to make sure using the same colors and same toolC)Photos of the Sketching Progress (4 to 8 photos)D)The sketch can be done by one or more artists of each team (the artists have to be team members of the original crew of Stage 1 and 2)E)The Sketch have to be sent by a deadline we are going to announce before the battle starts (if you are not sending the progress shots and the final sketch within this timeline you are disqualified from Stage 3)

STAGE 4 – THE GRAND FINAL- OCT/NOV/DEC 2011

From Stage 3 the next and last stop is Stage 4: the grand Final, 8 teams from 8 countries competing in 4 categories (Concept Painting, Sketching, Throwups, Tagging) This is typically held in the final two weeks of October, November or December. Write4Gold support in Travelfees, Food and Accomedition. The Grand FinalLocation of Write4Gold 2011 to be announced soon.
