In MemoryWillard E. Beron (’54) went to be with the Lord on

July 12. Mr. Beron is survived by his wife Mary; onedaughter, Carolyn (’69) Stanek; three sons, Dewayne(’68), Wendell (’71) and Stephen; eight grandchildrenand three great grandchildren. Mr. Beron was a pastorfor several churches, including Jacoby Church inPlymouth, IN; West Union Missionary Church inBremen, IN; Pleasant Hill Missionary Church inBronson, MI; Hamilton Chapel Missionary Church inDecatur, MI; and Oak Grove Missionary Church inNappanee, IN. He also assisted in church planting andfounded Beron Tree & Painting Services, Inc. He was amember of Oak Grove Missionary Church.

Lois Hazel MacLennan (’65) passed away onOctober 22, 1999 at the age of 78.

Walter F. Gray (’54) passed away on February 2,2000 in Hollywood, Florida. He had been employed bythe Broward County school system as assistant princi-pal until his retirement in 1996.

Bernice Siporski (’60) passed away on March 23,2000 in her home. Survivors include her husband Rayand a daughter, Candyce Discavage. Bernice was 85.

Gladys (Loucks ’59) Pettifor passed away on May24, 2000. She is survived by her husband Dean (’59);and four sons, Mark (’82), Don, Tom and Bryan.

H. Dan Brenneman (’74) passed away on June 20,2000. He is survived by one daughter, JenniferGalbreath; his mother, Lois A. Brenneman (’51); and abrother, Dale (’81).

Bethel FriendsFormer Bethel College Trustee Fred Shearer passed

away on July 17, 2000. He is survived by Velma; twodaughters, Sharolyn Shearer and Julie (Shearer) Olin,son Rick Shearer,two granddaugh-ters, Katie(Shearer ’96)Holtgren, andErika Olin andtwo grandsons,Brian Shearerand Nathan Olin.

Jacob Henry McConville was born to Mike (’00)and Dawn McConville on February 15, 2000. He was 7 lbs. 5 oz. and 191⁄4 in. long.

Emma Jeanne was born February 15, 2000 to Matt(attended ’95) and Amy (Durance ’94) Tamalunas. Sheweighed 7 lbs. and was 20 in. long. Matt is an associatepastor at Brown City Missionary Church. Their addressis 6846 James St., PO Box 314, Brown City, MI 48416.

Zachary Steven was born to Steven and Heather(Andrews ’97) Maierle on February 17, 2000. Zacharyweighed 4 lbs. 14 oz. and was 18 3⁄4 in. long. The Maierlefamily lives at 18794 CR 20, Goshen, IN 46528.

Aaron Wesley was born to Wes and Amy (Bell ’90)Rhoda on February 21, 2000. He joined his five-year-old sister Rebekah and three-and-a-half-year-old brotherBrock. Their address is 315 W. Crawford, Elkhart, IN46514.

Riley David Neal was born March 20, 2000 to Timand Terese (Allen ’90) Kukman. Riley weighed 7 lbs. 6 oz. and was 20 in. long. He was welcomed by hisfour-year-old brother Brock and 17-month-old sisterAllison. Terese has taught social science and drivereducation for 10 years at Milledgeville High School inIllinois. Tim is a district guidance counselor atMilledgeville. They reside at 213 W. Pearl, Lanark, IL61046.

Madison Alexandra was born on May 1, 2000 toChris (’93) and Sheri (Kimpel ’93) Hess. Madisonweighed 6 lbs. 1 oz. and was 19 in. long. She joins two-year-old big brother Zack. Chris is the head golf coachand assistant basketball coach and Sheri is a residentdirector and the web coordinator for student develop-ment.

Lesley (McMullen ’96) and Bryan Focht (’96) wel-comed their son Micah Benjamin into the world on July 6,2000. Micah weighed 7 lbs. 14 oz., measured 211⁄4 in.long and had lots of brown hair.

Don (’50) and Ruth (D’Arcy ’71) Conradcelebrated their 50th wedding anniversary onAugust 26, 2000. Don, a professor emeritus,taught sociology at Bethel until his retire-ment in 1992. The Conrads have four chil-dren, Greg (’81) and Kathie (German ’82)Conrad; Joel (’84) and Mona (Brown ’83)Conrad; Christine (Conrad ’84) and Guy(’84) Fisher and Alecia and Loren (’87)Conrad and eleven grandchildren.

Albert (’51) and Barbara (Heeter ’54)Beutler will celebrate their 50th weddinganniversary on September 3, 2000. Al Beutlerserved as Bethel College president from 1974until 1982. The Beutlers have three children,Nancy (Beutler, attended ’69) and GeorgeBassett; Stephen (’74) and Jayna (Ringer ’80);and Amy (Beutler) and Matthew (’95) Baron;six grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Doris (Ummel ’52) Ferguson retired inJune 1999 from the Indiana State Departmentof Health after ten years as an inspector inhospitals, ambulatory surgery centers andoutpatient dialysis centers. Since retirementshe has done consulting for hospitals andASCs. She also has a home-based businesswith Nest Entertainment Co. producing accu-rate animated Bible videos and historicalhero videos. As a young engaged couple Clyde (’55-’56) and Sharon (Troxel) Moore took as theirlife commitment a verse that continues toexpress their deepest personal desire—”thatthe love you have for me may be in them andthat I myself may be in them” John 17:26b(NIV). A board member of CrownInternational since 1968, Clyde currentlyserves as chairman of the board and CEO ofInternational Radio and Electronics Corp.

Active for many years in church and commu-nity involvements, Clyde has served as boardchairman for Youth for Christ Internationaland Youth for Christ Ministries since 1996,and as chairman of the board/president ofGlobal Housing, Inc. since 1999. The Mooreshave four children, Beryl (Moore, attended)Loomis; Richard (’88); Karen Hoover (cur-rently attending); and Joy Hoover; and 12grandchildren.

Dorothy Hayes (’57) recently celebratedher 80th birthday with an open house. Aretired schoolteacher, Dorothy stays activetraveling and volunteering at a local hospital.Her address is 185 Gallup Dr., Wilmington,OH 45177-2161.m

1970sNat Brown (’76) and his wife Donna

have been involved with church planting andleadership training as missionaries inEcuador since 1978. Donna has had theopportunity to lead many women to the Lordthrough home Bible studies. Nat has beeninvolved in planning, designing, buildingand administrating a Christian camp on thePacific coast as well as managing a Christianschool which now has 350 students enrolledin grades K-10. In 1998 two Bethel graduates,Kristin Rohrer (’98) and Erin Habegger (’98)began teaching in the school. A universityextension is expected to open next year. Natis also the rector of the Seminario Biblico delPacifico, the Missionary Church of Ecuador’sBible School. All three of the Brown children

were at Bethel last year: Maranatha whograduated with the class of 2000, Charity andJeremy.

2000Michelle Westenhaver (’00) has taken a

position at Bethel Bible Village, a grouphome. She lives at 3001 Hamill Rd., Hixson,TN 37343, and her phone number is (423)847-1168.

Bethel FriendsDorotha and Ray Pannabecker, BethelCollege President Emeritus, celebrated their65th wedding anniversary on June 16, 2000.Ray and Dorotha (Hygema) were marriedJune 16, 1935 at her parents’ home in FortWayne, IN. They honeymooned at WinonaLake, then headed for their first pastorate,Oakwood Mission in Detroit. Pannabeckerwas Bethel’s first business manager and laterthe college’s second president. North Centralaccreditation was first reached during his 15-year term from 1959 to 1974. ThePannabeckers have six children, Mariette(Pannabecker) Hayden, Esther (Pannabecker’59) Matteson, Willard Pannabecker (’63),Delora (Pannabecker, ’64-’65) Craig, Pat(Hoist ’61) Pannabecker and CalvinPannabecker (’63).
