Creating actionable insights
Our methodology
Using highly-developed research and mapping skills, we gather intelligence and collate
information about the people, organisations and markets in which you compete for
talent.
This knowledge is translated into actionable insights that will transform your talent
acquisition and resourcing strategy and deliver sustainable organisational success.
Our unique approach will help you gain a deep understanding of the location,
motivations, perceptions, salaries and career decision making processes of ‘best-in-
class’ talent around the world.
We make the invisible, visible. Unlike recruitment companies, our focus is on
discovering high performers who aren’t visible in the marketplace, who don’t appear on
CV databases and who typically aren’t actively looking to move.
What we deliver
We are passionate about using
research to find innovative solutions
to complex resourcing issues. We
deliver results – first time-every time.
We think strategically to deliver
operational results that inform
business strategy.

Creating actionable insights
Bespoke Insight
We’re in this for the long term. We don’t just focus on filling your immediate openings.
Instead, we use the insight we gather for your long term benefit to create a sustainable
pipeline of high-performing people to meet your current and future opportunities. We
don’t have our own database - everything we do is bespoke.
Our retained fees are a straightforward reflection of the number of days our
researchers are focussed on your needs. It means we don’t charge placement fees
arbitrarily based on a percentage of salary and there are no hidden extras for project
management, scoping or reporting.
We know that one size doesn’t fit all. You can rest assured that we use the most
sophisticated, targeted and focused telephone and web-based research techniques
available to deliver the vital intelligence that your organisation needs.
We absolutely understand the need to mix flexibility with structure, process and
previous experience. That’s why our approach isn’t a ‘one-size-fits-all’ solution - it
allows us to design and tailor an individual solution that matches your requirements.

What makes us different
Why Write Research?
“
We think differently – we
think talent, we think
intelligence, and that leads to
recruitment, as and when
your business needs to
replace or grow.
We do not maintain a
candidate database for our
own purpose . Every
candidate identified on
your behalf is sourced
exclusively for your
organisation.
A genuine partnership where
you retain strategic and
management control of your
talent acquisition process –
delegating as much, or as
little, as you require.
Our focus is placed firmly
on ‘passive candidates to
help you build
relationships with talent
who want to work for you,
not those just looking for a
job.
Visible added value. We
deliver superior candidates,
market intelligence and
organisational insight for a
fraction of the expense of
traditional methods.
Our cost model is
transparent. Clients only
pay for the time invested by
our team. Multiple
placements can be made
from our work at no
additional cost.

Organisational Insight in a FTSE 100 financial services business
Write Research Case Study
The Legal and Compliance Director of a global insurer was considering a major overhaul of his
function to improve efficiency and required a picture of best practice in order to inform his decision
making.
Write Research identified the legal, compliance and regulatory risk functions of our client’s biggest
competitors and delivered detailed organisational charts of where each role sits in the organisation,
which role it reports into, the names of individuals in these roles, remuneration information and
detailed role responsibilities.
The insight we provided enabled him to understand the key differences between his organisation
and those in competitor organisations. It provided insight into how best to restructure the function in
order to meet strategic objectives. The fact we were able to provide the details of key individuals in
key positions in his competitor’s functions, means that our client has a potential talent pool for any
new roles that arise as a result of the restructure.

Remuneration Benchmarking for a FTSE 100 company
Write Research Case Study
In order to improve talent attraction within a finite talent pool, our client required an
understanding of the remuneration levels of post PhD Pharmaceutical students in Boston,
USA. This intelligence is challenging to gather given the specific nature of the brief and
because the pharmaceutical sector is notoriously private when releasing information.
Using our research methodology and networks, Write Research conducted a rigorous analysis
of remuneration packages of post PhD students in competitor pharmaceutical businesses,
academic institutions and medical establishments.
The report was well received by our client who had previously been advised that this
information would be impossible to obtain without sizeable financial investment. The business
has used the information to redefine its proposition to this population making it easier for
them to access and attract the right talent.

Improving diversity at a luxury automotive brand
Write Research Case Study
Recognising that diversity results in an improved way of thinking, our client had put focus on
diversity, and in particular on improving its gender split. The client was interested in building a
talent pipeline of senior females that they could approach directly in due course. The brief was
to look for women in related industries who were currently responsible for delivering strategic
leadership and direction of major projects and programmes, and would be in the £80,000-
£110,000 salary bracket.
We identified 40 women in the target talent pool for the client to approach directly. The client
has developed the list we provided into an active talent pipeline from which to make hires
when the need arises. Due to the way we work, the client now owns the data and can use it for
any number of hires now or in the future, providing a cost-effective and forward focused
approach to hiring within a finite talent population.

Talent Search for a Global Technology Company moving into the Far East
Write Research Case Study
Our client, a technology company with over 30,000 employees, was growing into the Far East and
required a Talent Acquisition leader to oversee their Japan-based growth.
Following a detailed brief with stringent requirements, the need was for the individual to be from the
technology sector, fluent in both Japanese and English, and living in Japan. Our researchers
identified relevant individuals and engaged the best talent meeting all the requirements of the client
via a blend of primary telephone and secondary desk research. Following our research, we
approached 99 individuals who we thought had the right potential for the role. From our approaches
we narrowed down the candidates to three CVs that were shortlisted and sent to the client.
The client asked to interview two of the individuals, with one being offered the role, who was in fact
from their direct competitor. In addition, we were able to deliver insight to the client including
detailed team structures, names and contact details of key individuals at the correct levels. Our
client was then in a position to hire more candidates for similar roles from the best available talent
in the market, safeguarding business continuity and beginning to build a talent pipeline for the Far
East business.

Employer brand perception for a global broadcasting company
Write Research Case Study
A major media agency wanted to attract talent outside of its core population; lawyers.
Having little understanding of the attraction factors for this population, and in order to find
out how the organisation was viewed by legal professionals, the client engaged Write
Research to carry out a perception audit.
Using our networks and primary research methodology, we researched perceptions of the
client company amongst lawyers in four different practice areas: digital media, technology,
and intellectual property, and litigation, all within the experience bracket of circa eight
years post-qualification.
We provided the client with benchmark data for remuneration, insight from private
practice lawyers on moving in-house, and perceptions of our client as a potential
employer. We also provided details of individuals who expressed an interest in opening
dialogue with our client regarding specific opportunities. This has enabled our client to
make key hires without the expense of using external agencies and search suppliers. The
client has also built a talent pipeline of potential future candidates meaning time and cost
to hire will be reduced in future too.

Creating an international hub in Singapore
Write Research Case Study
Our client was considering merging all of their global teams in a specific functional area in to a
central hub located in Singapore. Write Research was appointed to provide a picture of the
market and talent availability that would inform the business on risks and opportunities.
Through our research based methodology we identified individuals to approach within the
organisations including senior operational staff and HR at companies that had set up large-
scale operations in Singapore. We spoke to these individuals to understand more about the
challenges, risks and successes they had experienced in the setting up of these operations.
This was supported by evidence from recruitment consultants about the talent marketplace:
challenges, risks, buoyancy, fees, and easy and hard to fill roles, for example.
The research provided consistent views from a broad spectrum of employers and recruiters. A
strong picture of challenges that exist in setting up an operation in Singapore was gathered,
with specific talent insight into talent and talent availability, training, attraction factors, culture
and remuneration. Our client was able to make an informed decision about establishing a hub
in Singapore, business risk was reduced since the client understood the challenges and
opportunities that lay ahead from a talent perspective.
