• Masters/PhD by research– check with faculty. Exemption process is endorsed at faculty level only.
Part 4 : Credit Exemption
Late Registration (during candidature)
• Permitted up to second week of a semester
• Late registration fee RM100.00
• Failing to register or pay full fee by beginning of the 3rd week of the semester, shall be automatically dropped
• Reinstatement fee amounting of RM600.00 will be imposed, if the appeal is approved

Part 4 : Part time mode
A student in a programme by research may register under part-time mode on condition:
▪ Only for local students▪ Student must furnish evidence ( letter or relevant
documents) of employment from their employer
( Senate 573.05)
• May defer not more than 2 semesters
• Deferment must be applied in the first seven weeks of the semester
• May withdraw any time. Cannot reverse and need to apply as new student
• Penalty of RM600 if deferment or withdrawal made after 2nd week but before 7 week.

Open to: students with excellent academic record from countries within Southeast Asia, South Asia, Central Asia,the Middle East, and Africa. Priority is given to applicants from academic staff members of institutions whichhave MoUs with UPM and intending to conduct research in priority areas relevant to UPM/Malaysia.The applicant:• must have fulfilled the general application requirements for international students;• must be a holder of a Master’s degree with a minimum CGPA of 3.50;• is intending to conduct research in priority areas relevant to UPM/Malaysia;• is not a recipient of any other forms of financial support and verified by the student’s embassy;• must has published at least 1 article in an academic journal.
Putra Alumni Scholarship Scheme (PASS)
PASS is a form of loyalty scheme to study at the graduate level in UPM for:(i) International UPM Alumni and their children;(ii) Local UPM Alumni
Eligibility :• The applicant must hold a Bachelor degree or Master’s degree with a minimum CGPA of 3.50.• Applicable for programs by research only.• Research conducted in priority areas of relevant to UPM/Malaysia;• Recipients must graduate on time (GOT) – For UPM Alumni only.

1. A student is eligible for conferral of a degree only if he has achieveda minimum CGPA of 3.000, and fulfilled the requirements forcourses as certified by the Faculty/Institute/School:
a) In the case of a degree by research, passed his thesis examination;Full filled credits and publications requirements.
b) In the case of a degree programme by coursework, passed allcompulsory courses, and project paper or CE, obtained aminimum CGPA of 3.000, and completed the internship/ practicaltraining (if any); and
c) Has settled all fees due to the University.
2. All international students (except for students from Indonesia andBrunei) must have obtained a grade ‘M’ for the Malay Languagecourse (LPM2100 or its equivalent).
