Note to Members Telephone Banking winds down June 1
WPCU’s telephone banking system is nearing the end of its useful life. As a result, telephone banking will be discontinued effective June 1, 2020. Winnipeg Police Credit Union has offered Telephone Banking to members since the 1980’s — but, as eventually happens with all technologies, the service has become outdated and costly to maintain. More importantly, as demand has fallen over the years, there has been a lack of development in the programming — which could, in time, lead to security risks.
Over the years, most WPCU members have moved from telephone banking to online banking and, more recently, mobile banking via our innovative mobile app. These have become the primary platforms members use to access their account information and conduct safe and secure routine banking transactions away from their branch.
We recognize that telephone banking remains popular with a small number of members and that the service is important to them. We will be reaching out to those members directly, to discuss other options and work together to meet their needs in the best possible way. Our sincere hope is to alleviate any inconvenience this may cause and to ensure every member has safe and easy access to their WPCU accounts in a way that works for them.
Please drop by your branch or call us at 944-1033 if you have questions. We’ll be happy to help.
WPCU IN THE COMMUNITY
In 2019, WPCU donated nearly $20,000 and provided support to many police-related charities and events — including Cops for Kids (top right), the WPA Kids Christmas Party (bottom right) and the WPS K9 Unit (below).
Our staff and board look forward to supporting more of these worthy causes in the years to come.
