Background: Renewable energies currently undertake a more important role in the Andalusian Energy Model, particularly knowing the exceptional potential that the Autonomous Community of Andalusia has for these energy types in the creation of employment, economic competition and social and territorial cohesion, as well as in the development of research initiatives and entrepreneurial projects. Aim & programme: The regional seminar “Renewable Energy in Andalusia: Opportunities and New Projects” took place within the framework of the Third Edition of the “Renewable Energies and Water Technologies Fair”, organised by the the Chamber of Commerce of Almeria, which took place from October 5 to 7, 2006. Regional Seminar in Andalusia, 5th October 2006, Aguadulce, Almeria

Title: “Renewable Energy in Andalusia: Opportunities and New Projects” Place: Congress & Exhibition Centre of Roquetas de Mar, Aguadulce, Almeria Date & time: Thursday, 5th October 2006, 9.00h-14.30h Organisation: Agencia Andaluza de la Energía (Andalusian Energy Agency) Participants: 120 Short description: The main goal of the regional seminar organised by the Agencia Andaluza de la Energía was to study and promote new and emblematic projects of the renewable energy sector.

The International Fair, which takes place biannually, is held in the Exhibition and Conference Centre of Roquetas de Mar in Almeria and counts on an exhibition gross surface of 22800 square yards. The basic objective is not strictly commercial, since the directives of the sector are in constant change, and we can expect that they continue this way throughout next decades, but it is an instrument for the information, promotion and commercialization of Renewable

Energies and Water Technologies. For this reason the Fair is reinforced as a way which all the agents who converge with the markets of the control of the emission transmit experiences and accelerate the putting in practice of the model of sustainable development. In the subject of water, Almeria heads the application of new technologies and can manage to be a centre of development strongly linked to the developing countries. The Agencia Andaluza de la Energía organised a stand throughout the Fair.
