WP2 Information exchange on national incentives and status of geothermal energylead partner: RVO (Netherlands Enterprise Agency)

Objectives

To exchange information on the status of geothermal energy utilization, including national support schemes and research, development and deployment (RD&D) activities.

Another objective is the identification of gaps and recommend measures to strengthen European geothermal development in order to meet short-term targets according to the National Renewable Energy Action Plans and future contributions to renewable energy supply.

The scope will range from application of geothermal energy for direct heating to higher enthalpy resources and their corresponding use, and include technical as well as non-technical issues.

WP2 Information exchange (RVO)

Task 2.1 Initial information exchange (RVO/ OS)

• Collect information on existing support and funding schemes in partner countries.

• Collect information on most relevant research, development and demonstration projects and initiatives in partner countries.

• Record information of all participating and other programmes, covering characteristics of programme design and implementation: objectives, target groups, instrument types, eligibility, conditions, budgets, evaluation procedures, etc.

• Record information on evaluation, monitoring and dissemination processes in use for both programmes and projects

• Common formats (templates, questionnaires) and tools for an easy, comprehensive way of data exchange/processing will be proposed in order to prepare the final task report.

Task 2.2 Barriers, gaps & required actions (RVO)

• Identify and analyse technical and non-technical barriers and opportunities for geothermal development (CNR/RVO)

• Map the need for future RD&D (Jülich/RVO)

• Propose actions to bridge gaps, overcome barriers and promote the use of geothermal energy in Europe (RVO)

• (If appropriate) more intensified information exchange on specific topics (running until M54=end project)

How to collaborate?

JA1 Information

exchange (groups)

regularmeetings, workshops, visits, ideafactories, etc.:

JA2 Joint work

Joint assignment:detailed studyon specificissue

JA3 Joint call

Jointlydevelopingnew insights, new systems

• Appropriate (and feasible) JA-type should be chosen for a specific challenge• JA’s can evolve from JA1 > JA2 > JA3• Effectiveness/Impact more important than amount of €’s

19

How to start/organise joint activities ?

•Bottom-up

•Bi- or multilateral

•Based on countries preferences (within the clusters)

At least two countries to take the initiative

The Geothermal Era Network as a continuing vehicle to launch JA’s

also after the project period !
