Gossip

I’ve heard it said that gossip thrives In little cramped and narrow lives And like a boomerang they throw Comes back to those who let it go.

Their word thus wing we, through the air, For reputations have no care And though as little seeds they’re sown When they return they’re fully grown.

Messy Church Conference Highlights Messy Church is an Outreach to people who are not

yet attending church and providing a way of renewing and refreshing church communities as the gifts of those in church are being developed.

Discipleship of the team and all who attend Messy Church is a God given gift allowing God to do what only God can do.

Messy Church founder Lucy Moore has the dream that all churches will have a Messy Church/Intergenerational service which welcomes families and folk of all ages reflecting the five core values Christ-centred, All age, Creativity, Hospitality and Celebration.

St Barnabas Messy Church will be welcoming families, youth and all age adults seven times this year, the first being Saturday 24 March 3.30 – 5.30 to explore the Easter theme “God Makes a Way”.

Easter Camp ‘18 Easter is possibly the most important weekend of the year for our youth. 3,500+ youth attend the full-on weekend of fun, worship, community building and excellent gospel presentations from world class preachers. We hope to take our entire youth group this year but some of them can’t afford the $179 registration costs. Our parish has already been incredibly generous towards the youth this year, but there may be others willing to contribute to Summer Camp that I turned down. Every little bit helps, all donations will be a real blessing. Thanks, Phil.

Parish Mission Statement... Foster inspirational worship and prayer Enable people to grow in faith and service Encourage children and young people to follow Jesus Christ Develop as a compassionate, spiritual centre in our community Seek new ways of carrying forward Christ’s mission nearby and far away

You will be aware that a 7.6 earthquake has hit Papua New Guinea's Southern Highlands, and more than 30 people are believed to have been killed with more than 300 injured. The earthquake has caused widespread destruction. While we are still waiting for details and advice as to how we might best respond, we would ask that all Anglicans hold the people of PNG in prayer.

The Anglican Missions Board is helping with the assessment and will contribute to a co-ordinated response as appropriate. Please use the following prayer if it is helpful:

God of all creation, we lift up before you the nation of Papua New Guinea and especially the people of the Highlands Province as they recover from earthquakes and landslides. We mourn with them for those who have died, we pray for the healing of those who are injured, for strength and courage for all those who work to provide safe shelter, to bring aid and recovery.

We pray for Bishop Nathan, Archbishop Allan and all who provide leadership to these communities in this time of need. May your strength, wisdom and hope rest upon them and all they serve.

We pray for the whole Anglican Church of PNG, for the people of Mendi and the communities throughout the Highlands, that they may know the presence of your compassionate and life-giving Spirit, that they may work together for the good of all people. Through Christ our Lord we pray, Amen.

Archbishops Philip Richardson and Winston Halapua.
