carpenter Erie Sauder, who found his

calling building quality, solid wood

furniture.

Mr. Sauder’s first church furniture

project, dating back to 1934, is still an

integral part of the worship services

of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in

Defiance, Ohio.

To this day, the enduring beauty

and stunning craftsmanship of these

furnishings exemplify the standards he

established and we have upheld for

more than 8 decades.

Today, we continue Erie Sauder’s

legacy, by serving over 35,000

congregations throughout North

America. We sincerely appreciate

Seat ContourAt Sauder Worship Seating, every seat has a contour. This contour

provides maximum seating comfort and strength over the life of the

pew. In addition to the contoured seat, we offer a flat or contoured

back. These pew options offer support and have an appealing

appearance.

Cushion OptionsComfort plays a critical role when making a decision related

to seating. Sauder Worship Seating® offers several comfortable

and durable foam options, providing lasting quality.

Choose from conventional or high resiliency (HR) foam.

Too little density allows someone to bottom out, while

too much can make for a stiff seating experience.

Ergonomic DesignAll our seating products are designed for use in worship

settings. Designs and engineering principles used for

PEW SEATING SIZE

In the early planning stages of a new church or when replacing pews

in an existing building, consider how many people you’ll want to

seat. How much space will each person take?

Building code is the standard that architects and builders are

required to use to determine seating capacity. It says to allow

18 inches of seating per person.

To put this into perspective, think about how much room you

have in a coach seat on an airplane. Regulation seats actually

give you 19 inches per person. That’s pretty close to the person

next to you!

We recommend 20 inches per person as the best guide for

determing maximum seating capacity.
