New Sermon Series Starting October 1Kingdom CultureIn front of our south entrance is a life size statue of John Wesley. The “founder of Methodism” had many great quotes. His words will be the subject of this series. He was a “man of one book” and was very serious about living in alignment with the Bible.
New Sermon Journals available at all Guest Service DesksLearn more about the new sermon series, “Kingdom Culture,” by reading along in the journal. Available at the Guest Services desks and the main office for $5 donation.
Excerpt from the Sermon Journal, Monday, September 18, 2017Written by Pastor Tom Harrison
God is faithful to us. Consistency, reliability, dependability, steadiness, evenness and regularity may not be the flashiest personality types, but people who display loyalty, fidelity, devotion, allegiance, trustworthiness and faithfulness are
the best friends, companions and leaders. Daniel must have been the first Methodist! Daniel 6:10 says, “ just as he had done before.” He was methodically a man of prayer – a model of consistency. We see this at the core of Jesus’ life, too. It seemed He was always trying to withdraw to pray. Jesus’ prayer life is one of the most consistent aspects of His personality in the Gospels. Consistency in prayer leads to an influential life. Failure to pray is a great risk.

Chris Cleveland Moving to NashvilleWe would like to congratulate Chris Cleveland and his family on their recent announcement to move to Nashville to follow God’s call to focus on songwriting and touring. We are grateful to have had him with us for over 10 years at Asbury and pray for his continued joy and success. We will still have him with us in worship for several Sundays in September and October.
Farewell Concert scheduled, October 29 at the Venue, 7 pmIn honor of his outstanding music ministry here at Asbury and the success of his Christian band, Stars Go Dim, we are proud to invite his church family and community to a FREE concert. You will be able to hear some of his best-known songs.
UNITED in PrayerSunday, October 1, Mason Chapel, 6-7 pm
After Jesus ascended into Heaven, His followers were constantly united in prayer (Acts 1:14). In that same spirit, we are launching a new monthly prayer gathering. We’ll unite our prayers around intentional focus areas. Join Pastor Tom for the kick-off as we pray for the church, including Asbury, Cornerstone, the suffering church in disaster areas, and the worldwide persecuted church. Bring a friend! For more information, contact Cheryl at [email protected].
