Welcome

Flowers The sanctuary flowers are given today to the glory of God.

To Our Guests,We especially welcome you today! More information about our church is available on our website at firstpresaugusta.org. You can also visit our welcome desk in the Welcome Center, located directly behind the sanctuary.

Spiritual CareIf you would like to speak to someone about what it means to know Jesus Christ or you have any spiritual need or question, please use one of the prayer cards in the pew rack to contact one of our pastors. Our church elders are also available to speak with you. An Elder and his wife will be standing next to the pastor following the service to talk or pray with you.

Children’s Check-inWe are committed to the highest level of protection possible for the children placed in our care on Sundays and at all church events. For this reason, we require parents of newborns through fifth grade children to check in their children before they go to the nursery, Sunday School, Catechism, Children’s Church or any other children’s activity. Kiosks are available in the Narthex and in the Children’s Lobby. The process is quick and easy, and volunteers are available to assist you.

Children’s WorshipWe offer a specially designed program for children in pre-K through fourth grade during the morning services. Leaders will escort children from the sanctuary to their classrooms during the hymn of preparation. Parents are welcome to accompany them to observe where to pick them up after the service. Children in pre-K through second grade remain in their classrooms until they are picked up by a parent.

Nursery Nurseries are provided for infants and toddlers during the worship services and Sunday School. We provide a Mother/Infant Room (room 160) located in the Ebenezer Building behind the sanctuary, and the Geneva Room is designated as a cry room for parents with fussy children. Both rooms are equipped with live video feed of the worship services. Ushers are available to direct you.

Additional Seating Please see Ushers for additional overflow seating.

As stewards of God’s resources, we try not to print an excess of bulletins. We invite you to bring this bulletin with you when you return for the evening service.

†The Call to Worship .........................................................................from Hosea 6:1-3

Come, let us return to the Lord. He will revive us; he will restore us, that we may live in his presence.

Let us acknowledge the Lord; let us press on to know him.

As surely as the sun rises, he will appear;

He will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth.

The Lord be with you.And with your spirit.Let us worship God!

Fairest Lord Jesus, ruler of all nature,O thou of God and man the Son;Thee will I cherish, thee will I honor,Thou my soul’s glory, joy and crown.

Beautiful Savior, Lord of the nations,Son of God and Son of man.Glory and honor, praise, adorationNow and forevermore be thine!

†The Pastoral Prayer and The Lord’s PrayerOur Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

The Assurance of Pardoning Grace .......................................from Ephesians 5:23-27Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.

Gracious Savior and Lord, you have every right to ask us, “Do you love me?”For like Peter, we have denied you with our words and actions. You said that tolove you was to keep your commandments, yet we have disobeyed both the letterand the spirit of your holy law. You said that whoever loves you will also love hisneighbor, yet we have not loved our neighbor as ourselves. Forgive us for nottaking up our crosses to follow you and for not dying to ourselves. Forgive us fornot finding our delight in you. Forgive us for failing to declare your praises andfor failing to live as your ambassadors in this world. Forgive us for not seekingfirst your kingdom, nor considering you our most precious treasure. Forgive usfor forsaking you, our first love. Cause us to recognize how far we have fallen,to repent of our sins and return to you. Amen.

Men’s ChoirColin Fuller, solo

In articulo mortis (At the moment of death)Caelitus mihi vires (My strength is from heaven)

Nearer, my God, to thee, nearer to thee!E’en though it be a cross that raiseth me.

In articulo mortis (At the moment of death)Caelitus mihi vires (My strength is from Heaven)Deo adjuvante non timendum (God will help me, nothing should be feared)In perpetuum (For ever)

Dirige nos domine (Direct us, O Lord)Ad augusta per angusta (Through difficulties to great things)Sic itur ad astra (Such is the path to Heaven)Excelsior (Ever upward)

Still all my song shall be, Nearer, my God, to thee,Nearer, my God, to thee, nearer to thee!

Though like the wanderer, the sun gone down,Darkness be over me, my rest a stone,

Angels to beckon me nearer, my God, to thee,Nearer, my God, to thee, nearer to thee!

Or if, on joyful wing, cleaving the sky,Sun, moon, and stars forgot, upward I fly!

Words: William Dunkerley, 1908, and Joel Littlepage (v.3) | Music: Joel & Melissa Littlepage | © 2015 Little Pages Music

In Christ there is no East or West, In him no North or South; But one great fellowship of love Throughout the whole wide earth.

In him shall true hearts everywhere Their high communion find; His service is the golden cord, Close binding humankind.

Join hands, then, members of the faith, Whate’er your race may be;Who serves my Father as his child Is surely kin to me.

In him those walls shall tumble down, That bear hostility,And the whole family of God Shall dwell in unity.

In Christ now meet both East and West; In him meet North and South:All Christlike souls are one in him Throughout the whole wide earth.
