Meditation - I Sing Thy Love.. ............................................................................ KookChancel Choir; Katie Gothel, flute

Theme: The Covenant of Grace

I sing thy love, O Lord, love unquenchable and endless;Holy flame in the heart of the pure Son of God;Love that found me all unlovely gave its loveliness to cover me; Thy pledge of love to me is for all eternity.

From thy love nothing can sever me;I am thine, thou art mine in a covenant divine;Neither depth, or height, nor angel pow’r, nor devil ’s might; Even death cannot alter thy pledge of love.

I sing thy love, O Lord, inexhaustible and boundless; Mighty river that flows from thy throne in the skies; When my life shall end its story and I fly to heaven’s glory, My union, Lord, with thee will go on eternally. Amen.

Welcome & Announcements ........................................................... Rev. John Franks

The Call to Worship ................................................... from Hebrews 12:22-24, 28-29†

You have come to Mount Zion, to the heavenly Jerusalem, the city of the living God.

We have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly, to the church of the firstborn, whose names are written in heaven.

You have come to God, the judge of all men, to the spirits of righteous men made perfect, to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant.

Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our God is a consuming fire.

The Assurance of Pardoning Grace ............................................... Jeremiah 31:33, 34

“This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time,” declares the Lord. “I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.”

Most merciful Father, we acknowledge and confess that we are prone to evil and lazy in doing good. All our shortcomings and offenses are against you. You alone know how often we have sinned by wandering from your ways, in wasting your gifts and in forgetting your love. O Lord, have pity upon us. Teach us to hate our errors. Cleanse us from our secret faults. Forgive all our sins on account of your dear Son, our Savior. Send your purifying grace into our hearts, that we may live in your light and walk according to the commandments of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen

Praise the Rock of my salvation; praise the mighty God above. Come before his sacred presence with an off ’ring of love.

Hallelujah, hallelujah, he is God and he alone; Hallelujah, hallelujah, come with joy before his throne.

Praise the Rock of my salvation; Jesus’ blood atones for sin. Jesus, at the door of mercy, waits to let us in.

Praise, my soul, the King of heaven, to his feet thy tribute bring. Ransomed, healed, restored, forgiven, who his praise shall sing?

Praise the Rock of my salvation; praise the Father’s boundless love.Praise the Lamb, my great redemption; praise the Father above.

The Shorter Catechism, Question 20:

Q. Did God leave all mankind to die in sin and misery? From all eternity and merely because it pleased him God chose some to have everlasting life. These he freed from sin and misery by a covenant of grace and brought them to salvation by a redeemer.

Lo! The storms of life are breaking, Faithless fears our hearts are shakingFor our succor undertaking, Lord and Savior, help us!

Lo! The world from thee rebelling, Round thy church in pride is swellingWith thy word their madness quelling, Lord and Savior, help us!

By thy birth, thy cross, and passion, By thy tears of deep compassion,By thy mighty intercession,Lord and Savior, help us!

On thine own command relying, We our onward task are plyingUnto thee for safety sighing, Lord and Savior, help us!
