24MO! Campaign and to those who attended the reception. This two year campaign officially ended on October 31, 2016. To date, the campaign allowed us to pay for the cost of nearly two of the five
floors. Your generosity has been overwhelming.
As you can see, we still have a way to go. For those who have not completed their pledge, we want you to continue your payments even though the campaign has ended from an accounting point of
view. All of your future payments will be noted to your pledge. We ask you to continue to support AbyWest. New initiatives will roll out soon as we continue to forge ahead to reach our goal of $8MM to complete the entire five floor community center.

MINISTRY
The Abyssinian Ministries of Health, Christian Social Concern, and Archives
& History are co-hosts of today’s First Sunday Fellowship, taking place in the
Fellowship Hall following the 11:30 AM service. All Are Welcome!
Due to overwhelming responses, all seats have been filled to attend The
June 8th Youth Achievement Gala, and REGISTRATION IS CLOSED. Thank
you for your continued support of the Ministry and our Youth.
The Sister to Sister Book Club selection for June 9th is No One Is Coming To
Save Us by Stephanie Powell Watts. Ministry’s next gathering takes place at 10:30 AM
in Central Park near 110th & Malcolm X Blvd./Lenox Ave. Remember to bring a chair
or blanket to sit on and your own snack. Feel free to bring something to share.
GOOD GRIEF NEWS!
Deacon Dr. Henry McCurtis & Deaconess Dr. Sydney Bush (co-leaders of
Abyssinian’s “Good Grief” Bereavement Ministry), will co-facilitate Grief and
Bereavement Sessions with residents at The Abyssinian Towers every three
months, on 2nd Tuesdays.

SCHOLARSHIP MINISTRY OFFERS POSTSECONDARY
SCHOLARSHIPS
for 2018-2019 ACADEMIC YEAR
Eligibility for The Abyssinian Baptist Church Postsecondary Scholarship
includes the following three (3) criteria. Applicant must be:
1. A member of The Abyssinian Baptist Church;
2. A graduating H.S. Senior with 2.5 or higher grade point average (GPA);
3. Accepted to an accredited college or Postsecondary Education
Institution in fall 2018.
Applicant must download and complete The Abyssinian Baptist Church Postsecondary
Scholarship Application, accessible only via www.abyssinian.org.
The completed application packet including applicant’s essay, three (3) reference
letters, and an official transcript of grades, should be submitted to The
Abyssinian Baptist Church Scholarship Ministry mailbox located in the church’s
elevator lobby, no later than Sunday, June 10, 2018.
The Abyssinian Scholarship program is supported 100% by the consistent
generosity of our membership,
Since 2013, The Abyssinian Baptist Church Scholarship Ministry has
awarded $191,000 in Postsecondary Scholarships to eligible Abyssinian student
members. The Ministry provides four-year scholarships to students who maintain a 2.5
GPA at an accredited college or postsecondary education institution.

2018 H.S. and College Graduates are urged to add your name to the Graduates

DEGREE in Goodwill, Victorious Living, and Courage. If you wish to recommend a
member, who through their living, exemplifies the virtues of Goodwill, Victory or Courage,

We use text alerts to inform and remind members of events,

Currently, Abyssinian offers the option to “give” during the worship
service offertory, by mail, online, during livestream, and through the
kiosk located on the church lobby level. We are introducing the
Option to Give via Text. Now, you can TEXT TO GIVE anytime
from anywhere!
How to set up Text to Give: In the “Recipient Box” type in 646-760-3339. In
Message box, enter dollar amount, space, and one of the following key words (for
example: 200 tithes or 10 offerings, or 75 abywest).
Initially you will receive a message with instructions to click to a
link to setup your device for text giving to Abyssinian. The
following steps will take only 5 minutes.
1.Click the link.
2.Login to your SecureGive account
3.Add the information for credit card you want to use for text giving
Next, you’ll receive another message instructing you to reply Y to
receive messages from that number, then another text asking you
to confirm the transaction. You will receive an email confirmation
that your phone number is authorized, as well as an email
confirming receipt of your gift.
