Q2:In your own words, what are the three things that you like most

about this neighborhood?

Results: “The people and the place” best summarizes what WHHA residents like about the

neighborhood.

This included several key aspects:

• People in the neighborhood value the community and their interaction with friendly neighbors.

• Survey respondents value Neighborhood character – which was the most common response for

what respondents like about the area, including the historic architecture and homes, the large trees

and the feeling of a quiet and safe neighborhood.

• The second most common characteristic about the place was its proximity to desirable amenities

including the Trolley Trail, Brookside, Loose Park and the Plaza.

Q3: In your own words, what are the three things that you like the least about

this neighborhood?

What people “like least” about the neighborhood is directly related to factors that impact or diminish what people like most about

the neighborhood. Issues included:

• Automobile traffic (volume and speed) that impedes the walkability of the neighborhood and the noise issues related to the

traffic. Lack of adequate protection for pedestrians.

• Specific environmental concerns, such as sweet gum tree balls and the ash tree worms that threaten the area’s trees.

• Crime, security and other factors that impact safety and the feeling of community.

• Management of pets – especially dog barking and dog waste.

• Lack of school choice, concerns with public schools as well as the closed Bryant School.

• Water: flooding as well as water rates.

• Property upkeep for both private properties (home maintenance) and public spaces – especially sidewalks.

• Rats, bats and other pests.

One person is concerned about zombies…

Sounds crazy, but I like to grocery shop. I also like to cook. If there are neighbors who are needing help due to illness, physical limitations, family emergencies, etc. we should have a forum where people can make requests and others can volunteer to help. Maybe something like this already exists--I'm new to the neighborhood.

willing to do and care for plantings

willingness to help.

Willing to assist with written communications. Can draft/edit/review as needed.

There was talk of a neighborhood garden. I'm interested in helping with this as well as a butterfly/bee flower area.

general grunt :-)

Would testify re Wornall Road

No, but I would be willing to do limited general volunteer work from time to time.

Public Relations - press releases, fact sheets, etc. Lawyer - I am a criminal defense lawyer but could assist or put in connection with any legal resources needed Social Events - planning, communicating, etc.

Yard cleaning/trimming for the elderly.

Jenny Witt - I am a corporate attorney, and could contribute my skills drafting, planning and organizing neighborhood initiatives. I am also an avid vegetable gardener, and would love to help WH develop a community garden.

already actively involved

Realtor/Carpenter

Yard clean-up up for elderly/disabled residents. I'm down to help in any way possible, just let me know!

If volunteers were needed for socials or service (dumpster) work days I would be happy to work a shift or help in another way if unable to be there that specific day.

I've got nothing useful

I apologize, but I already put in 30+ hours per week with another nonprofit that benefits my disabled relative.

I can help if people need information in getting registered to vote . Voter photo ID is now law voters will have to show state or government issued photo ID to vote in August could you send members a email blast about this

I would love to contribute more in the future, but right now my time is dominated by work.

I'm a residential appraiser so I'm familiar with overall housing issues if that would be of any help
