Chinese iron ore imports moved down 10% due to increased port stocks and high prices.

Australia - world's largest iron ore exporter has recorded iron ore shipment at 75.29 mn t for May’20, upslightly against 74.61 mn t in Apr’20, according to the vessel line up data maintained with SteelMint.Exports to China increased moderately.

Brazil recorded 10% fall in monthly iron ore export volumes to 21.58 mn t. Fall in exports due to theBrazilian supplies of iron ore cargoes amid rising COVID-19 cases at the iron ore mine in Itabira Brazil,owned by Vale.

South African iron ore export shipments in May’20 witnessed slight drop on a monthly basis to 4.14 mn t,against 4.16 mn t in Apr' 20, according to bulk vessel line up data maintained with SteelMint. The forcemajeure so announced in April'20 amid COVID-19 led to fall in exports

marginally to 109.35 mn t as on 25th June 2020 as compared to 109.25 mn t towards the end of May'20.

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, China - the world's largest consumer and importer of iron

ore has recorded crude iron ore production at 74.64 mn t in May’20, almost flat as against 74.38 mn t in

Apr’20. Chinese demand remained almost stable for the month.

Indian iron ore export shipments hit over three-years high in May'20 with 3.91 mn t amid increased

Chinese demand following supply concerned from Brazil.

Indian pellet export were recorded at 2.07 mn t in May'20, hitting an all time high, as per data maintained

with SteelMint since Apr'14. Exports increased on aggressive bookings made on low domestic offtake.
